Removal Procedure
- Remove the retaining clip from the brake pedal pin (1).
- Remove the brake switch from the brake pedal pin.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake switch.
- Remove the brake switch from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Locate the brake switch to the vehicle.
- Connect the electrical connector to the brake switch.
- Install the brake switch to the brake pedal pin.
- Install the retaining clip to the brake pedal pin (1).
- Remove the left knee bolster trim. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S42829230862005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2).
- Remove the screws securing the switch (1).
- Connect the electrical connector (2).
- Install the screws (1) securing the switch to the trim panel. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
- Install the left knee bolster trim. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S42829230862005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the upper instrument panel (I/P) trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper»(ref-187800-S06858945302005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the light sensor.
- Twist the light sensor in order to release it from the upper trim panel.
- Twist the light sensor in order to secure it to the upper trim panel.
- Connect the electrical connector to the light sensor.
- Install the upper I/P trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper»(ref-187800-S06858945302005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Cycle the folding top to the open position.
- Loosen the retaining nuts to the body accessories compartment.
- Remove the cover to the body accessories compartment.
- Remove the electrical connector from the daytime running lamp (DRL) diode (2).
- Remove the fastener (1).
- Remove the DRL diode from the body accessories compartment.
- Install the fastener (1). Tighten: Tighten the fastener to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
- Install the electrical connector to the DRL diode (2).
- Install the cover to the body accessories compartment.
- Install the retaining nuts to the body accessories compartment. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
- Close the folding top.
- Release the tab (1) securing the flasher to the knee bolster.
- Pull on the flasher in order to remove it from the bracket.
- Push on the flasher in order to lock it into the bracket.
- Locate the bracket to the knee bolster.
- Secure the mounting tab (1) to the knee bolster.
- Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment door.
- Compress the tabs (2) on the switch in order in release it from the I/P.
- Remove the bulb (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Install the bulb (1).
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Slide the tabs (2) on the switch into the mounting hole in the I/P in order to secure the switch in to place.
- Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment door.
- Compress the tabs (2) on the switch in order in release it from the I/P.
- Remove the bulb (1).
- Install the bulb (1).
- Slide the tabs (2) on the switch into the mounting hole in the I/P in order to secure the switch in to place.
- Remove the lamp lens from the mirror housing. Pry carefully with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver (at the rear edge (1) of the lens, furthest from the windshield).
- Remove the bulb from the socket.
- Install the bulb into the socket.
- Install the lamp lens to the mirror housing. Insert the forward edge of the lens (1) (the edge nearest to the windshield) into place and push up the rear edge to snap in place.
- Using a blunt tool slide the vanity mirror bulb lens to the outer edge of the vanity mirror.
- Remove the vanity mirror bulb.
- Install the vanity mirror bulb.
- Slide the bulb lens back into the vanity mirror.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187824-S17690437682005090100000) in General Information.
- Remove the wheel assembly. Refer to «Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation»(ref-187818-S18654946232005090100000) in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the wheelhouse liner. Refer to «Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front»(ref-187817-S38680424442005090100000) in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the headlamp bulbs.
- Remove the nuts from the headlamp in the following sequence 1, 2,3.
- Remove the headlamp from the vehicle.
- Align the headlamp assembly into the opening.
- Install the headlamp into the vehicle.
- Install the nuts to the headlamp in the following sequence (1, 2, 3). Tighten: Tighten the headlamp fasteners to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connectors to the headlamp bulbs.
- Install the wheelhouse liner. Refer to «Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front»(ref-187817-S38680424442005090100000) in Body Front End.
- Install the wheel assembly. Refer to «Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation»(ref-187818-S18654946232005090100000) in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Close the hood.

Note. Avoid touching the bulb or letting the bulb come in contact with anything damp. Oil from your skin or moisture on the bulb can cause the bulb to explode when the bulb is turned on. If either comes in contact with the bulb, clean the bulb with alcohol or a suitable degreaser and wipe the bulb dry.

- Turn wheels to gain access to the headlamp door access cover in the wheelhouse liner.
- Remove the headlamp door access cover fastener.
- Remove the headlamp door access cover from the vehicle.
- Disconnect the headlamp electrical connector from the bulb.
- Turn bulb counterclockwise 1/4 turn to release the bulb.
- Remove the bulb from the vehicle.
- Insert the bulb into the headlamp assembly.
- Turn the bulb 1/4 clockwise to seat the bulb into the headlamp assembly.
- Connect the headlamp electrical connectors to the bulb.
- Install the headlamp door access cover to the vehicle.
- Install the headlamp door access cover fastener. Tighten: Tighten the headlamp door access cover fastener to 7-11 N.m (62-98 lb in).
- Return wheels facing straight ahead.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187824-S17690437682005090100000) in General Information.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamp bulb.
- Remove the fog lamp bulb from the housing by rotating the bulb counterclockwise.
- Using a flat-bladed tool, release the fog lamp from the fascia from the front of the vehicle.
- Remove the fog lamp from the vehicle.
- Align the fog lamp housing to the opening in the fascia.
- Push the fog lamp into the fascia firmly until fully seated.
- Install the fog lamp bulb into the housing and rotate the bulb clockwise.
- Connect the fog lamp wiring harness to the fog lamp bulb.
- Lower vehicle.
- Turn the fog lamp switch to the OFF position.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer To «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187824-S17690437682005090100000) in General Information.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the fog lamp bulb.
- Rotate the fog lamp bulb socket counterclockwise to release the bulb from the fog lamp housing.
- Remove the bulb from the vehicle.
- Install the fog lamp bulb into the fog lamp housing.
- Rotate the fog lamp bulb clockwise until fully seated.
- Connect the wiring harness to the bulb.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Turn the wheels to gain access to the wheelhouse liner.
- Remove the 2 lower push pins.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Use a flat-bladed tool to release the wheelhouse liner.
- Remove the sidemarker lamp from the fascia.
- Remove the sidemarker lamp socket from the sidemarker lamp.
- Remove the lamp from the vehicle.
- Install the socket to the sidemarker lamp assembly.
- Position the sidemarker lamp to the fascia.
- Push the sidemarker into the fascia to fully seat the retainer.
- Reinstall the wheelhouse liner.
- Install the 2 screws.
- Install the push pins.
- Return the wheels to straight ahead.
- Remove the marker lamp. Refer to «Marker Lamp Replacement - Front Side»(ref-187799-S42302920452005090100000) .
- Remove the sidemarker lamp socket from the sidemarker by rotating one-quarter turn.
- Remove the bulb from the sidemarker lamp socket.
- Insert the bulb into the sidemarker lamp socket.
- Install the sidemarker lamp socket to the sidemarker by rotating one-quarter turn.
- Insert the sidemarker lamp into the fascia. Refer to «Marker Lamp Replacement - Front Side»(ref-187799-S42302920452005090100000) .
- From the wheel opening, use a small, flat-bladed tool, release sidemarker the retainer.
- Remove the sidemarker lamp from the fascia.
- Remove the sidemarker lamp socket from the sidemarker lamp.
- Remove the lamp from the vehicle.
- Install the socket to the sidemarker lamp assembly.
- Position the sidemarker lamp to the fascia.
- Push the sidemarker into the fascia to fully seat the retainer.
- Remove the marker lamp. Refer to «Marker Lamp Replacement - Front Side»(ref-187799-S42302920452005090100000) .
- Remove the sidemarker lamp socket from the sidemarker by rotating one-quarter turn.
- Remove the bulb from the sidemarker lamp socket.
- Insert the bulb into the sidemarker lamp socket.
- Install the sidemarker lamp socket to the sidemarker by rotating one-quarter turn.
- Insert the sidemarker lamp into the fascia. Refer to «Marker Lamp Replacement - Front Side»(ref-187799-S42302920452005090100000) .
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Using a thin-bladed tool, release the retaining clip on the inboard side.
- Turn the socket counterclockwise to remove the socket from the lamp.
- Remove the lamp from the vehicle.
- Insert the socket into the lamp and turn the socket clockwise to seat the socket.
- Align the lamp to the opening.
- Insert the lamp into the opening and push firmly to seat the lamp.
- Install the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Close the hood.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the park/turn signal lamp from the vehicle. Refer to «Park/Turn Signal Lamp Replacement»(ref-187799-S06749580662005090100000) .
- Remove the electrical connector from the park/turn signal lamp by rotating the connector counterclockwise.
- Pull bulb out of electrical connector.
- Install the bulb to the electrical connector by pressing until fully seated.
- Install the electrical connector into the park/turn signal housing and turn the connector clockwise.
- Install the park/turn signal lamp to the vehicle. Refer to «Park/Turn Signal Lamp Replacement»(ref-187799-S06749580662005090100000) .
- Install the upper grille applique molding. Refer to «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Molding Assembly)»(ref-187819-S17859027992005090100000) or «Grille Applique Molding Replacement - Upper (Bow Tie)»(ref-187819-S27401332402005090100000) in Exterior Trim.
- Close the hood.
High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement
- J 25070 Heat Gun
- Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) Naptha
- Plastic Flat-Bladed Tool - Deburr any sharp or rough edges on the plastic tool to prevent scratching of the paint finish.
| IMPORTANT | Maintain body surfaces and adhesive tapes between 21-38°C (70-100°F) during installation. Never apply adhesive tapes when the body surface and tape is below 21°C (70°F). |
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Lower the end gate.
- Remove the end gate liner. Refer to «Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement»(ref-187822-S36833712932005090100000) in Body Rear End.
- Remove the end gate access panel. Refer to «Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement»(ref-187822-S02173559212005090100000) in Body Rear End.
- Set the end gate cover access aside.
- Disconnect the wiring connector from the stop lamp.
- Heat the stop lamp mounting area using the J 25070 . Hold the J 25070 approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the surface. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
- Depress the clips on the center high mounted stop lamp.
- While depressing the clips, use a plastic flat-bladed tool to pry the lamp from the end gate pocket.
- Carefully pull the lamp out of the end gate and remove from the vehicle.
- Remove all adhesive from the end gate pocket and stop lamp using a 3M ScotchBrite molding adhesive remover disc, 3M P/N 07501, or equivalent.
- Remove all traces of adhesive residue from the end gate and stop lamp using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha and allow to air dry.
- Install the adhesive tape to the back of the high mounted stop lamp.
- Pull the backing off the adhesive of the center high mounted stop lamp.
- Position the center high mounted stop lamp to the pocket in the end gate.
- Install the center high mounted stop lamp into the pocket and press firmly to seat the retaining clips.
- Press firmly on the center high mounted stop lamp to ensure maximum bond to the end gate.
- Connect the wiring connector to the stop lamp.
- Install the end gate access panel. Refer to «Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement»(ref-187822-S02173559212005090100000) in Body Rear End.
- Install the end gate liner. Refer to «Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement»(ref-187822-S36833712932005090100000) in Body Rear End.
- Close the end gate.
- Close the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the rear license frame, if equipped.
- Remove the rear license plate.
- Remove the backup lamp assembly retaining screws.
- Partially remove the backup lamp assembly to expose the backup lamp sockets.
- Remove the backup lamp sockets from the backup lamp assembly. Rotate the sockets counterclockwise to release the locking tabs.
- Remove the backup lamp assembly from the vehicle.
- Install the backup lamp sockets to the backup lamp assembly.
- Rotate the sockets clockwise to engage the locking tabs.
- Install the backup lamp assembly into position on the vehicle.
- Install the backup lamp assembly retaining screws. Tighten: Tighten the backup lamp and rear license assembly retaining screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
- Install the rear license plate.
- Install the rear license frame.
- From beneath the vehicle, depress the locking tab on the backup lamp socket.
- While depressing the locking tab, rotate the backup lamp socket counterclockwise.
- Remove the backup lamp socket from the backup lamp assembly.
- Remove the bulb from the socket.
- Install the bulb into the backup lamp socket.
- Install the backup lamp socket into the backup lamp assembly.
- Rotate the socket clockwise until the locking tab is fully seated.
- From underneath the vehicle, rotate the license lamp socket counterclockwise to disengage the locking tabs.
- Remove the license lamp socket from the license lamp assembly.
- From underneath the vehicle, hold the license lamp assembly in place while loosening the fasteners from the lamp assembly.
- Slide the lamp assembly rearward to remove.
- From underneath the vehicle, slide the license lamp onto the rear fascia.
- While holding the license lamp in place, install the license lamp screws. Tighten: Tighten the license lamp assembly screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
- Install the license lamp socket into the license lamp assembly.
- Rotate the license lamp socket clockwise to engage the locking tabs.
- From underneath the vehicle, rotate the license lamp socket counterclockwise to disengage the locking tabs.
- Remove the license lamp socket from the license lamp.
- Remove the bulb from the license lamp socket.
- Install the bulb into the license lamp socket.
- Install the license lamp socket into the license lamp.
- Rotate the license lamp socket clockwise to engage the locking tabs.
- From underneath the vehicle, remove tail lamp socket from the lamp and rotate counter clockwise to disengage the socket from the lamp.
- Remove the fasteners from the tail lamp studs (1, 2).
- Remove the lamp from vehicle.
- Position the lamp to the opening in the rear body panel.
- Insert the lamp into the opening.
- Install the tail lamp fasteners onto the tail lamp studs (1, 2) in sequence 1 and 2. Hand tighten only. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners in sequence 1 and 2 to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
- From underneath the vehicle, insert the tail lamp socket into the lamp and rotate clockwise to fully seat the socket.
- From underneath the vehicle, rotate the socket counterclockwise in order to disengage socket from the tail lamp assembly.
- Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling out.
- Insert bulb into socket.
- From underneath the vehicle, insert socket into tail lamp assembly and rotate socket clockwise to secure socket into lamp housing.
