Power Window System: Removal & Installation Chevrolet Prizm I

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, radio will go into anti-theft protection mode. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from owner prior to servicing vehicle.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Unclip trim cover from door armrest. Remove armrest screws. Remove inside door handle bezel screw and unclip front door trim from door. Slide door handle forward and pull away from trim panel. Disconnect control rod from inside door handle. Disconnect power window switch connector(s). Disengage trim panel retaining clips. Remove door trim panel, and set aside. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Front)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove armrest and door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM . Pull water deflector away sufficiently to access 2 window-to-regulator bolts. Remove window-to-regulator bolts, and lift window from door. Remove motor/regulator assembly bolts and retaining nut. Remove motor/regulator assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten motor/regulator assembly bolts and nuts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).

Removal & Installation (Rear)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove armrest and door trim panel. See «DOOR TRIM»(ref-3332-S24875914292000042500000) . Remove water deflector. Loosen rubber window channel along center guide channel. Remove center guide channel retaining screw and bolts. Remove center guide channel.
  2. Disconnect window motor/regulator electrical connector. Remove window motor/regulator assembly bolts. Slide regulator arm roller out of bottom run channel. Lift window and remove from door. Remove window motor/regulator assembly.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure bottom channel is securely attached to window. If bottom channel is loose on window, channel will need to be removed, cleaned and reattached in original location. Tighten front motor/regulator bolt to 43 INCH lbs. (5.0 N.m). Tighten remaining motor/regulator bolts to 49 INCH lbs. (5.5 N.m). Tighten center guide channel bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).

Disconnect negative battery cable. Gently pry switch housing from door trim. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove switch from housing as necessary. To install, reverse removal procedure.
