Seat System: Removal & Installation Cadillac STS I

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7»(ref-197550-S23876506832005101200000) for driver's seat or «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9»(ref-197550-S16552592642005101200000) for passenger seat in SIR.
  2. Move the front seat forward in order to access the front seat track trim cover (1).
  3. Remove the seat track trim cover (1) from the seat track.
  4. Remove the seat track fasteners from the seat track.
  5. Disconnect the seat electrical connectors (1).
  6. With the aid of an assistant, remove the seat from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the seat into the vehicle.
  2. Insert the front tabs (1) on the seat track into the floor.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors (1).
  4. Install the seat track fasteners. Tighten: Tighten the seat track fasteners to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  5. Install the seat track trim covers (1).
  6. Enable the SIR System. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7»(ref-197550-S23876506832005101200000) for driver's seat or «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9»(ref-197550-S16552592642005101200000) for passenger seat in SIR.

Lumbar Replacement - Front Seat

  1. Push in and pull up on the front of the rear seat cushion.
  2. Lift up and out on the seat cushion.
  3. Remove the rear seat cushion from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear seat cushion into the vehicle.
  2. Engage the center wire hook, on the back of the seat cushion, under the seat back frame.
  3. Position the rear seat buckles in the slots of the rear seat cushion.
  4. Push down and rearward to seat the rear seat cushion into the latches in the number 4 bar. IMPORTANT: Pull up on the front of the rear seat cushion to ensure that the cushion is secure.

Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement - Rear

  1. Remove the upper trunk trim. Refer to «Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear»(ref-197543-S21104577462005101200000) in Body Rear End.
  2. Remove the upper retaining nuts (1) from the rear seat back.
  3. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to «Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear»(ref-197561-S37138665152005101200000) .
  4. Remove the center seat belt (2) and shoulder belt buckle nut (1), if equipped.
  5. Place the center shoulder belt on the rear shelf panel.
  6. Remove the lower seat back retaining nuts (1).
  7. Pull out on the top of the rear seat back.
  8. Position the rear shoulder belts to clear the rear seat back during removal.
  9. Remove the rear seat back.
  1. Install the rear seat back into the car.
  2. Install the upper retaining nuts (1) to the seat back studs (2). Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  3. Install the upper trunk trim. Refer to «Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear»(ref-197543-S21104577462005101200000) in Body Rear End.
  4. Install the rear seat back retaining nuts (1). Tighten: Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  5. Install the center seat belt (2) and shoulder belt buckle anchor nut (1). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  6. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to «Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear»(ref-197561-S37138665152005101200000) .
