Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Programming and Setup

IMPORTANTThe Air Bag indicator light may remain ON after the instrument panel module (IPM) or sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) is replaced and during the programming procedure for the IPM until after the procedure is completed and the ignition key is cycled OFF and ON.

If the SDM is replaced, perform the Learning the Restraints ID procedure, for the IPM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration (IPM) or Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration (RIM) for Learning the Restraints ID procedure.

Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) Replacement

If the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) is replaced, update the SDM number in IPM. This number also called restraints ID represents the last four digits of SDM part number. On the Tech 2 menu Module Setup > SDM, perform Setup SDM Part Number in IPM function.
