IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE
Note. Idle mixture is controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Idle speed is preset by manufacturer and is not adjustable.
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR
Note. TP sensor is not adjustable unless specified otherwise. For further testing procedures, refer to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS or SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
Note. On some models, throttle control is electronic with NO mechanical link from engine to accelerator pedal. The PCM and Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module monitors the position of accelerator pedal based on signals from a nonadjustable Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor. The APP sensor is mounted above accelerator pedal.

| (1) Voltage range is from idle to wide open throttle. (2) Voltage ranges from 0.2-0.6 volt with throttle closed to 4.7 volts at wide open throttle. (3) Voltage range is from less than one volt at closed throttle to greater than 4 volts at wide open throttle. (4) Voltage ranges from 0.15-0.55 volt with throttle closed to 4.65 volts at wide open throttle. (5) Voltage ranges from 0.50 volt with throttle closed to 4.15-4.35 volts at wide open throttle. (6) On Camaro and Firebird, voltage range is from 0.25 volt with throttle closed to 4.49 volts at wide open throttle. On all other vehicles, voltage range is from less than one volt at closed throttle to greater than 4 volts at wide open throttle. (7) TP sensor is 2 individual units within one housing. TP sensor 1 signal voltage ranges from one volt with throttle closed to more than 3.5 volts at wide open throttle. TP sensor 2 signal voltage ranges from about 3.8 volts with throttle closed to less than one volt at wide open throttle. |
