- Install main bearings and main caps. Tighten main cap bolts evenly. Loosen main cap bolts one turn. Retighten bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (35 N.m).
- Using Torque Angle Meter (J-36660), tighten bolts an additional 50 degrees. Using wooden mallet, carefully tap crankshaft forward and then backward to seat thrust bearing.
Note. DO NOT shim, scrape or file bearing inserts. DO NOT touch bearing surface with fingers.
Note. Misalignment of main bearing cap toward transaxle can cause interference with the flywheel-to-converter bolt.
