22 11 001 Replacing right engine mount (M54)
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Remove reinforcement plate.
- Release engine mounts on left and right from above. Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ/2AZ. Refer to «ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/mechanical/#engine-and-gearbox-suspension-tightening-torques-m54) .
- Raise engine approx. 30 mm. Operation is described in Securing engine in installation position. Refer to «SECURING ENGINE WITH SPECIAL TOOL IN INSTALLATION POSITION (M54)»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-m54__securing-engine-with-special-tool-in) .
Release screws (1) and remove engine mount.

Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ. Refer to ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Installation
Ensure correct position of heat shield.
Installation
Lug (1) of engine mount must point to middle of vehicle.

Right engine mount: Even component number
Left engine mount: Odd component number
22 11 011 Replacing left engine mount (M54)

22 11 100 Replacing right engine support arm
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Secure engine in installation position. Refer to «SECURING ENGINE WITH SPECIAL TOOL IN INSTALLATION POSITION (M54)»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-m54__securing-engine-with-special-tool-in) .
- Remove underbody protection.
- Remove reinforcement plate.
Release nut (1) and screws (2).
Scheme 451
Remove engine support arm.
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ/3AZ. Refer to ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
22 11 110 Replacing left engine support arm (M54)
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Secure engine in installation position. Refer to «SECURING ENGINE WITH SPECIAL TOOL IN INSTALLATION POSITION (M54)»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-m54__securing-engine-with-special-tool-in) .
- Remove reinforcement plate.
- Remove oil dipstick guide tube. Refer to «11 43 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OIL DIPSTICK (M54/56)»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-m54__11-43-000-removing-and-installingreplacing) .
Release nut (1) and screws (2).

Remove engine support arm (3).
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ/3AZ. Refer to ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
22 31 001 Replacing rubber mount for transmission mounting
Special tools required

Necessary preliminary tasks
- Remove complete exhaust system. Refer to «18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (M54)»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/exhaust/#exhaust-system-repair__18-00-020-removing-and-installing) .
- Remove heat shield.
- Support transmission with hydraulic lifter.
Unfasten screws and remove transmission cross-member.
Scheme 453
Tightening torque 27 00 10AZ. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Position special tool 22 1 016 on opening (2) and twist in screw (3) hand-tight against housing.
Scheme 454
Pull out rubber mount with special tools 22 1 011 / 33 3 144 and nut (1).
Nut (1) = M 12x1.5 nut
Installation
Arrow on rubber mount must point to arrow on housing.
Scheme 455
Coat housing bore and rubber mount with Circolight, refer to BMW Parts Service.
Insert special tool 22 1 014 with pins into openings of rubber mount.
Scheme 456
Draw in rubber mount with special tools 22 1 014 / 22 1 021/33 3 144 and nut (1).
Nut (1) = M12x1.5

22 31 050 Replacing cross-member for transmission mounting
Operation is identical to Replacing rubber mount for transmission mounting. Refer to 22 31 001 REPLACING RUBBER MOUNT FOR TRANSMISSION MOUNTING .

- Remove heat shield.
- Support transmission with hydraulic lifter.
- Remove transfer box. Refer to «ATC 400 X-DRIVE TRANSFER CASE»(/bmw/x3/e83-2003-2006/remont/transfer-case/#removal-installation-x3-transfer-case__atc-400-x-drive-transfer-case) .
Position special tool 22 1 016 on opening (2) and twist in screw (3) hand-tight against housing.
Scheme 458
Pull out rubber mount with special tools 22 1 011 / 33 3 144 and nut (1).
Nut (1) = M 12x1.5 nut
Installation
