Checking Procedure
Ensure vehicle is level and transmission fluid is cold (68°-86°F, 20-30°C). Some transmission models have an oil fill plug located high on side of transmission oil pan. Oil from filler plug will leak out when it is removed. If oil continues to spill out from around raised area of oil pan, transmission is full. If oil does not continue to spill out, add oil. See SERVICE OR REFILL PROCEDURE. Tighten filler plug to 74 ft. lbs. (100 N.m).
GEARSHIFT CABLE
- Move gearshift lever to Park position. Loosen cable attaching nut on shift lever at transmission. Push the transmission shift lever forward to Park position, and push the cable rod rearward. (Scheme 1)
- Tighten shift cable rod nut to 88-106 INCH lbs. (10-12 N.m). Check proper operation of shifter in each gear selection, and readjust cable if necessary.
