Windshield, removing

1. Remove wiper arms.

Refer to 92 WINDSHIELD WIPER & WASHER SYSTEM

1. Remove cowl panel trim.
2. Remove sun visors on left, in center and on right.

Refer to 70 - INTERIOR TRIM

1. Remove interior rear-view mirror.

Refer to 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT

1. Remove upper trim panels on A-pillars.

Refer to 70 - INTERIOR TRIM

1. Pierce a hole in adhesive sealing material from inside of vehicle with broach at bottom left corner of windshield.

1. Run cutting wire through end of broach and pull through into inside of vehicle.

1. Lay cutting wire underneath glass all around windshield.

1. Tie end of cutting wire around bolt for securing wiper arms.
2. Insert protective cover V.A.G 1474/13 between windshield and dash panel.

1. Secure start of cutting wire in winding device and cut out first part of glass (up to about center of windshield).

Scheme 120

1. Move winding device to next position as shown and continue to cut out glass.

Scheme 121

1. Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley.
2. Route cutting wire as illustrated.
3. Cut out glass up to the point where the thread no longer runs in the relay pulley.

Scheme 122

1. Remove relay pulley and continue to cut out glass.

Scheme 123

1. Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley in upper corner of windshield.
2. Route cutting wire as illustrated.
3. Insert protective sheet V.A.G 1474/7 between windshield and molded headliner.
4. Cut out glass up to the point where thread no longer runs in relay pulley.

1. Remove relay pulley and continue to cut out glass.
2. Now repeat these steps in the top left and bottom left corners of the windshield.
3. Cut out the window glass completely according to these steps.
4. Remove glass from window opening with double suction cups.
