Rear window, installing

  1. When installing a new window, clean and prime bonding surface as previously described for installing windshield.
CAUTIONPrimer is electrically conductive and must not be allowed to come into contact with conductor strip of heated rear window.

Distances to edge of window. Refer to Rear window, assembly overview .

  1. When reusing an old, undamaged window, apply adhesive directly on old adhesive layer immediately after cutting back the remaining material.
  2. Glue upper spacers onto window glass and bottom spacers onto window flange. Refer to «Spacers and stopper profile for adhesive, gluing on»(/audi/tt/8n-2003-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#body-exterior) .

Scheme 142: Roof seam molding, removing and installing

1 - Roof seam molding

Removing

  1. Remove hexagon bolt -2-.
  2. Carefully pry molding out of roof seam, working from back to front of vehicle.

Installing

  1. Apply lubricant (e.g. soap solution) to profile seal.
  2. First insert roof seam molding below trim cover at windshield and then press fully into roof seam step by step.
  3. Fit hexagon bolt and tighten to 1.5 Nm.

  1. Tightening torque: 1.5 Nm

Scheme 143: Convertible top cover molding, removing and installing

1 - Convertible top cover molding

  1. Remove high mounted brake light.
  1. Remove six-sided nuts -2
  2. Loosen convertible top cover trim in area of six-sided nuts -8- and carefully press to front.
  3. Remove cover molding upward.

2 - Six-sided nut

  1. 20 Nm

3 - Washer

  1. Ensure cover molding is flush with vehicle body.
  2. a- = 0.1mm ± 0.3mm

4 - Spacer for cover molding

5 - Adhesive disk

  1. Glued to cover molding.

6 - Adjusting screw

  1. Cover molding height can be adjusted by tightening or loosening adjusting screws.
  2. When tightening six-sided nut, -2- use socket wrench to avoid stripping adjusting screw.

7 - Spacer

8 - Six-sided nut

  1. 8Nm

9 - High mounted brake light
