Center arm rest wiring set, removing and installing

CAUTIONSwitch off all electrical components. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

Removing

First, front center armrest in center console must be disassembled.

Wiring harness in backrest, removing and installing

The lower backrest cover must be removed to remove and install the wiring harness to Multimedia Display Unit 1 Y22.

CAUTIONSwitch off all electrical components. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

Removing

  1. Remove lower backrest cover --> «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(ref-289222-S36188513802008062700000) .
  2. Remove Multimedia Display Unit 1 Y22 in headrest --> «Monitors in headrests, removing and installing»(ref-289229-S33682674012008062700000) .

Wiring harness is routed in the headrest tube. If malfunctioning, the wire at lower connector must be disconnected.

  1. Disconnect harness connector in seat at bottom and cut it off.

Note. Raise disconnected connectors. Use them for connector assignment.

Installing

Wiring harness is supplied without the lower harness connector.

  1. Feed free end of wire through the headrest tube and secure the wire - arrow -.
  2. Install harness connector to other end of wire.

Terminal 10 is marked on the connector housing.

The lower backrest cover must be removed to remove and install the wiring harness to Multimedia Display Unit 1 Y22.

CAUTIONSwitch off all electrical components. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

Removing

  1. Remove lower backrest cover --> «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(ref-289222-S36188513802008062700000) .
  2. Remove Multimedia Display Unit 1 Y22 in headrest --> «Monitors in headrests, removing and installing»(ref-289229-S33682674012008062700000) .

Wiring harness is routed in the headrest tube. If malfunctioning, the wire at lower connector must be disconnected.

  1. Disconnect harness connector of black monitor wire in seat at bottom and cut it off.

Note. It is advantageous for the subsequent routing of the new wire to document (with photos or sketches) the wire routing in the seat backrest before removal.

The wire on the seat wiring harness is routed in the lower section of the seat.

  1. Remove all cable clips here.
  1. Pull wire - 2 - upward out of headrest tube - 1 -.

Installing

The wire is supplied without the lower harness connector.

  1. Feed free end of wire - 2 - through the headrest tube - 1 - and secure the wire with a cable clip - arrow -.

and the

  1. Dimension - b - = 230 mm

Dimensions represent the mounting points. Also see the "old" wire.

  1. Secure the wire at - dimension a - at top left spring - arrow 1 -.
  2. Form a loop and secure wire at - dimension b - from behind on seat wiring harness - arrow 3 -.
  3. Secure wire to backrest plate - arrow 2 -.
  4. Pay special attention that the wire from outlet of headrest tube up to mount - arrow 2 - can follow the adjustment movements of the active headrest without jamming or stressing.
  1. Continue routing wire at backrest and seat wiring harness - arrows - up to harness connector of seat wiring harness.

After completing work on the seat, the 12-pin harness connector is installed.

Connector assignment --> Monitor cable beneath seat, connector assignment

  1. Perform further installation in reverse order.
