The large bolt is for installing the hinges and the small bolt for the storage net attachments. Version 2 The underside is made of material and, except for the D-pillar protection, all of the attachments are riveted in place. NOTE: With version 2, only the D-pillar protection can be replaced. Riveted components cannot be replaced.

Remove the driver memory seat control head. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Release the switch trim -1- first at the top -arrows A- and then forward and out of the door panel.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

First insert the switch trim at the bottom -arrows B- and then press it in until it audibly locks in place.

FRONT ARMREST

Remove the bolts -1 through 4-.

Beginning at the bottom rear curve, unclip the door trim from the door using the pliers 3392 by sliding them between the door trim and the door in the securing clip area.

Pull the door trim panel -1- approximately 15 mm off the door all the way around -arrows A-.

1. The clips must not be left in the inside the door.

Remove the pull handle -2- upward and out of the clamp -3- at the indicated point on the door trim panel -arrow B-.

Disengage and remove the upper door trim panel from the door on the window recess.

Unlock the bracket -4- from the cable bracket -2- -arrow A-.

Remove inside door release cable -3- from the control cable bracket in -direction of arrow B-.

Disengage the ends of the cable -1- from the inside door release mechanism.

To disconnect electrical connector, press catch -1-, rotate retaining bracket in -direction of arrow- and remove connector.

Installing

Engage the ends of the cable -1- in the inside door release mechanism lever.

1. The open side of the eye on the end of the cable must face up.

Pull the door mechanism release cable -3- in -direction of arrow B- and guide it into the cable bracket -2-.

1. Bracket -4- must engage audibly in the control cable bracket.

Connect the connectors on the door control module.

Position the door trim on the window recess and press it down firmly.

Carefully install the door trim panel clip on the door and then press the door trim panel into the clip so that they audibly engage.

Install the pull handle -1- into the bracket -2- until it audibly latches into the door.

Install in reverse order of removal.

FRONT PULL HANDLE WITH SWITCH MOUNT

Press the treble speaker trim on until it engages audibly.

TRIM MOLDING

Note. Removal and installation is described for the driver side of the vehicle. It is the same for the other doors.

Removing

Wrap the blade on a small screwdriver with tape to protect the trim panel and decorative trim.

Pry off the decorative trim -1- from the door panel using the screwdriver and starting at the rear -arrow A-.

Remove the decorative trim from the door release mechanism toward the rear -arrow direction B- by gently prying off the trim using a screwdriver and starting at the front so that it lifts the hooks on the inside out of the cut-out.

Installation

First engage the decorative trim on the interior door mechanism and press it into the door panel until it clicks into place.

WINDOW FRAME TRIM

When sliding the instrument panel vent into the installation opening, make sure the air duct engages correctly.

CENTER SPEAKER TRIM

Removing

Note. Be extremely careful when removing and installing because it is easy to damage the speaker trim.

Carefully detach the speaker -1- on the rear pins in the driver direction -arrow- using the 3409.

Lift the rear speaker trim slightly, disengage it at the front on the defroster vent and remove it toward the rear.

Installation

First insert the speaker trim in the instrument panel and then press it on until it engages audibly.

INSTRUMENT PANEL

Removing

Move the steering wheel as far down as possible.

Move the seat all the way back and adjust the backrest to a 45° angle.

Switch the ignition on.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the instrument cluster gap cover. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAP COVER .

Remove the driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER .

Remove the side instrument panel vent. Refer to SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL VENT .

Remove the MMI screen cover. Refer to MMI SCREEN .

Remove the MMI screen. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connector on the access/start authorization switch. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the center instrument panel vent. Refer to CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL VENT .

Remove the radio/navigation system. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the Climatronic control module -J255-. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the front information display control head module -J523-. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE .

Remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT .

Remove the instrument panel support. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT BRACKET .

Disconnect the passenger airbag electrical connector. Refer to FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG IGNITER 1 AND 2 N131/N132 .

Vehicles equipped with speakers: remove the midrange speaker in the center of the instrument panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the sunlight photo sensor -G107-. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the upper A-pillar trim. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM .

Vehicles with speakers: Remove the center midrange speaker inside the instrument panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the top left and right instrument panel bolts -1- in the A-pillar area.

Remove the left and right air duct bolts -arrows- on the instrument panel.

Remove the instrument panel bolts -1- on the center of the instrument panel central tube.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Position the instrument panel vent and guide the electrical connectors for the sunlight photo sensor -G107- and speaker through the openings in the instrument panel.

Check if there is a rubber buffer -3- on the clamp -2- on the lower windshield frame.

When sliding the instrument panel -1- on, make sure the clips engage in the box-shaped profiles on the bottom side of the instrument panel.

Note. Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Align the instrument panel with the door trim panels and tighten the screws.

Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Note. If the airbag indicator lamp -K75- indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

SWITCH FOR ACCESS/START AUTHORIZATION, TRIM PANEL

1. Special Ignition Lock Pliers VAS 6339

Removing

Remove the center instrument panel vent. Refer to CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL VENT .

Insert the VAS 6339 through the trim covers.

Position the tips of the VAS 6339 on both holes -A arrows- on the access/start authorization switch -E415- -2-.

Press the VAS 6339 together -B arrows- to spread the tips of the pliers and release the trim retaining tabs.

Hold the VAS 6339 pressed with one hand and remove the trim -1- with the other hand -arrow C-.

Note. Only use the VAS 6339. Remove the trim by hand.

Installation

Install the upper and lower trim on the switch until they audibly latch.

Install the center instrument panel vents. Refer to CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL VENT .

TOP CENTER DEFROSTER VENT

Remove the screws -2 through 7- and remove the upper defroster vent in the center -1- from the instrument panel.

Disconnect the sunlight photo sensor -G107- connector.

Installation

Remove the steering column from the central tube and lay it on the floor of the vehicle. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Disengage the left instrument panel vent air duct at the instrument panel central tube. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the right instrument panel vent air duct. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the left fuse panel C -SC- and the right fuse panel D -SD- from the instrument panel central tube. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the data bus on board diagnostic interface -J533- and lay it aside. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the bolts -1- on the left and right of the central tube support and remove the bracket -2-.

Remove the left and right bolts -3- for the central tube support.

Remove the A/C unit bolt -1- on the left and right of the central tube support.

Scheme 72

Remove the center defroster vent air duct. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the A/C unit bolt -1- on the instrument panel central tube top brace.

Remove the bolt -2- on the top brace on the instrument panel central tube.

Remove the ground wire and left ground point from the tunnel wall and free them up.

Disconnect the connectors on the accelerator pedal module and the brake light switch and free them up.

Remove the front right sill panel trim. Refer to FRONT SILL PANEL TRIM .

Disconnect the connectors on the A-pillar coupling station. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connector on the fresh air blower and free up the wires.

Remove the air intake chamber bracket bolts -1- on the instrument panel central tube.

Remove the nut -2-.

Remove the bolt -1- and nut -2-.

Tighten the 2 nuts -2- and -3- on the threaded pin -1- on the driver side A-pillar and remove the threaded pin.

Carefully pull the instrument panel central tube -1- up at the driver side while disengaging it from the A/C unit -3- and the upper -2- and lower -4- stop brackets.

Remove the instrument panel central tube from the threaded pin on the passenger side A-pillar.

Carefully tilt the top side of the instrument panel central tube back while pulling it up.

Remove the instrument panel central tube from the vehicle interior.

Installation

Carefully insert the instrument panel central tube -1- in the body.

Engage the instrument panel central tube on the A/C unit -3- and on the upper -2- and lower -4- stop brackets.

Align the instrument panel central tube -4- with the A-pillar.

Tighten the two nuts -2- and -3- on threaded pin -1- and insert the threaded pin in mount -5- on the A-pillar on the driver side and tighten.

1. The threaded pin must be installed all the way until the collar on the mount touches the A-pillar.

Tighten the left and right instrument panel central tube bolts and nuts.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following

Pry out the expanding cap -1- with the "airbag" symbol about 5 mm with a screwdriver -arrow A-.

Note. The trim be removed from the A-pillar in -direction of arrow B- in different way depending on which clips are installed in the vehicle. Refer to Upper A-Pillar Trim Clip . If clips with a hook are installed, the trim needs to be pulled just a few millimeters until the hooks engage.

Carefully unclip the A-pillar trim -2- beginning at the top using a 80 - 200 -arrow B-.

Push the A-pillar trim upward and remove it -arrow C-.

Note. Depending on the date of manufacture, the clip slides out of the guide on the trim when it is pulled upward.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Note. Always replace the clips in the center and at the bottom. Always replace clips without hooks with clips with hooks.

Install the upper A-pillar trim -1- into the instrument panel mount -2- and the front sill panel trim -direction of arrow-.

Attach the upper A-pillar trim with the "airbag" symbol so that the clips engage.

Fold over the rubber lip on the door seal.

A-PILLAR GAP COVER

Unclip the upper B-pillar trim -2- -arrows A- by inserting the 3409 into the lower edge of the trim.

Remove the upper B-pillar trim from the bracket on the body -arrow B- by moving the trim toward the inside and pulling it downward at the same time.

Remove the front belt anchor. Refer to FRONT BELT ANCHOR .

Guide the belt webbing with seat belt latch -1- out through the slide for the seat belt height adjuster -3- and then remove the upper B-pillar trim.

Installation

Guide the belt webbing and seat belt latch -2- in through the slide for the seat belt height adjuster.

Note. Ensure that the seat belt height adjuster is in the bottom-most position.

Make sure the mount -3- for the sliding piece for the upper B-pillar trim -1- is securely latched into the retaining pins -4- on the seat belt height adjuster.

First install the B-pillar trim upward into the cut-out in the headliner and into the bracket.

Stretch the door seal rubber lips over the trim.

LOWER B-PILLAR TRIM

Starting at the top, unclip the lower B-pillar trim -2- from the B-pillar -arrows A- using the 80 - 200.

Unclip and remove the lower B-pillar trim from the sill -arrow B-.

Open the flap -3- and remove the seat belt webbing -1-.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Install the centering pin on the lower B-pillar trim on the sill.

Stretch the door seal rubber lips over the trim.

C-PILLAR TRIM

Remove the rear outer belt guide. Refer to OUTER REAR BELT GUIDE .

Remove the expanding clip -2-.

Unclip the C-pillar trim -1- using the pry lever 80 - 200 -arrow A-.

Pull the C-pillar trim downward -arrow B- and remove.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Pull the securing clip -2- out of the operating lever -1- slightly -arrow A- using a small screwdriver.

Pull the operating lever back -arrow B- to release the hood and hold it in this position.

At the same time pull the lever toward the center of the vehicle horizontally -arrow C-.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Slide the clip completely into the operating lever.

Press the operating lever onto the mount in the mounting bracket and engage it.

FLOOR COVERING

Remove the front seat

1. Standard seat and Sport seat (manually adjustable) as well as front folding seat - passenger seat, refer to «MANUAL STANDARD FRONT SEAT»(/audi/q5/i-2008-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames) .
2. Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat, refer to «POWER STANDARD FRONT SEAT»(/audi/q5/i-2008-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames__power-standard-front-seat) .

Remove the rear seats. Refer to SEAT FRAME .

Remove the driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER .

Remove center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE .

Remove the center console bracket and lower the shift mechanism. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET .

Remove the rear center console vent on the center tunnel. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the front sill panel trim. Refer to FRONT SILL PANEL TRIM .

Remove the B-pillar lower trim. Refer to LOWER B-PILLAR TRIM .

Remove the rear sill panel trim. Refer to REAR SILL PANEL TRIM .

Disengage the floor covering at brackets -1- and -2-.

Pull the floor covering -3- back.

Note. Make sure the floor covering does not tear at the openings.

Fold the floor covering lengthwise and remove it through a door.

Installation

Fold the floor covering lengthwise and lay it in the vehicle.

First slide the floor covering forward until the air duct and shift mechanism openings are aligned.

Then attach the floor covering at brackets -1- and -2-.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

FOOTREST

REAR SILL PANEL TRIM

Remove the screw -1-.

Carefully pry off the cap -2- with the "airbag" symbol with a screwdriver and remove the screw for the side airbag.

Remove the rear sill trim -arrows B- downward and remove it from the seat belt guide -arrow C-.

Open the flap -2- on the sill trim strip and disengage the seat belt webbing.

Lift the sill trim just enough until it is possible to connect the bracket -1- to the sill trim connector.

Open the bracket, remove the connector and disconnect it.

Push connector lock -3- to stop -arrow- ; this disconnects electrical connection -2- and -4- and it can be removed.

Replacing bolted on attachments

1. Luggage compartment removed

Switch the ignition off and remove the ignition key.

Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM MOLDING .

Remove the bolts -1 through 4-.

Beginning at the bottom rear curve, unclip the door trim from the door using the pliers 3392 by sliding them between the door trim and the door in the securing clip area.

1. Position of the retaining clips -arrows-.

Pull the door trim panel -1- approximately 15 mm off the door all the way around -arrows A-.

1. The clips must not be left in the inside the door.

Remove the pull handle -3- upward and out of the clamp -2- at the indicated point on the door trim panel -arrow B-.

Disengage and remove the upper door trim panel from the door on the window recess.

1. The open side of the eye on the end of the cable must face up.

Pull the door mechanism release cable -3- in -direction of arrow B- and guide it into the cable bracket -2-.

Connect the connectors on the door control module.

Position the door trim on the window recess and press it down firmly.

Carefully install the door trim panel clip on the door and then press the door trim panel into the clip so that they audibly engage.

Grab between the trim and the rear lid and disengage the remaining clips.

Remove the lower rear lid trim panel. Refer to LOWER REAR LID TRIM PANEL .

First unclip the upper side trim -1- using the pry lever 80 - 200 from the rear lid -arrows A-.

Then unclip the upper trim using the pry lever 80 - 200 from the rear lid -arrows B- and remove it.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If the trim clamps -2- remain in the rear lid mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Make sure all the rubber buffers -1- are in the trim.

Insert the trim panel first behind the side window frame in the rear lid.

Install the upper rear lid trim first at the top and then along the sides.

TAIL LAMP COVER

1. Removal Wedge 3409

Place the 3409 or a screwdriver -2- on the opening and pry off the cap -1- in -direction of arrow-.

Installation

Press the cap on until it engages audibly.

WARNING TRIANGLE COVER

Removing

Turn the quick release -1- 90° counter-clockwise, unclip the cover -2- from the lower trim panel and move it in -direction of arrow-.

Disengage the cover on the lower trim and remove it.

Remove the warning triangle from its mount.

Installation

Install the emergency triangle cover -2-, press on it until it audibly latches and then turn the quick release -1- 90° clockwise.

HEADLINER

Special tools and workshop equipment required

1. Pry Lever 80 - 200

Removing

Fold the backrests forward.

Adjust the front seat backrest to a 45° angle

Remove the upper A-pillar trim. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM .

Remove the upper B-pillar trim. Refer to UPPER B-PILLAR TRIM .

Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM .

Remove the rear roof panel trim. Refer to ROOF PANEL TRIM .

Remove the D-pillar trim. Refer to D-PILLAR TRIM .

Remove the screen separator mounts. Refer to SCREEN SEPARATOR MOUNT .

Remove sun visors. Refer to SUN VISOR .

Remove the front interior lamp/reading lamp. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALB] Removal and Installation .

Remove the sun visor center bracket. Refer to SUN VISOR CENTER BRACKET .

Remove the roof grab handle. Refer to ROOF GRAB HANDLE .

With a sunroof

Open the sunroof -1- all the way.

Open the sun shade -2- about 2 / 3 .

Clean 80 - 200 to avoid soiling headliner.

Let the 80 - 200 slide along between the sunroof opening cover frame -2- and the headliner -1- until it touches one of the clips -3-.

Release the cover frame form the clips one after the other using the 80 - 200 -arrow-, as illustrated.

Remove the bolt -1- in the front interior/reading light roof opening.

Note. 2 technicians are needed to disconnect the last connections and remove headliner.

Release the clips -arrows- on the rear centering clip with a small screwdriver.

Lower the headliner on the left side of the vehicle -arrow 1-.

Remove the headliner through the opening for the rear lid -arrow 2-.

Installation

Note. If the headliner clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the headliner. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following

Align the headliner and press on the clips on the cover frame for the sunroof opening until they engage audibly.

ROOF GRAB HANDLE

1. Offset screwdriver

Removing

Unclip expanding caps -1- and -3- to the locking position using an offset screwdriver -2-.

Remove the roof grab handle -4- from the body opening.

Installation

Insert the grab handle in the body cut-out.

Press the roof grab handle expanding caps on until they engage completely.

ROOF PANEL TRIM

1. Pry lever 80 - 200
2. Removal tool T40280 is needed to remove the clips in the body.

Carefully unclip the rear roof panel trim -1- in the center off the roof frame using the pry lever 80 - 200 -arrow-.

Installing

Note. If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Mount the rear roof panel trim -1- so that the hooks touch the D-pillar trim.

Position the rear roof panel trim on the pins, then press on it until the clips audibly engage.

ROOF REINFORCEMENT, WITHOUT SUNROOF, ATTACHING TO BODY

1. AK adhesive D 190 MKD A3

Procedure

Remove headliner. Refer to HEADLINER .

Apply a bead of adhesive -arrow- onto the roof reinforcement as illustrated.

1. Distance between the adhesive beads -a- = approximately 3.5 inches (90 mm).
2. Distance of the outer bead of adhesive to the edge of the roof reinforcement, dimension -b- = approximately 0.75 inch (20 mm).

Mount the roof reinforcement -1- centered to outer sides and at distance -a- to the bow -2- of the front edge of the roof.

1. Dimension -a- = approximately 4 inches (100 mm).

Press the roof reinforcement onto the roof from inside.

Install the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER .

SUN VISOR

Removing

Disengage the sun visor -1- in the center of the vehicle from at the sun visor center bracket -2-.

Unclip the expanding cap -3- using a screwdriver.

Tilt the sun visor bracket down -arrow- and remove it.

Vehicles with illumination: Disconnect the connector and remove the sun visor.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Engage the sun visor bracket tab in the opening in the headliner.

Press the sun visor expanding cap on until it engages completely.

SUN VISOR CENTER BRACKET

1. Pry Lever 80 - 200

Removing

Disengage the sun visor in the center of the vehicle at the center bracket and fold it to the side.

Unclip the sun visor center bracket cover -1- by sliding the 80 - 200 only approximately 1 mm under the cap -2 arrows-.

Note. If the 80 - 200 is shoved further underneath, it will then be under the center bearing for the sun visor. At that point, it is not possible to pry off the cover.

Remove sun visor center bracket -3- -arrow 4-.

Installation

Make sure the expanding clips are not damaged when inserting the sun visor center bracket.

Press the cap -1- on until it engages audibly.

Removing

Remove the screws -1- and remove mount -2- from the window frame.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.
