Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

  1. Engine/transmission hoist VAG1526A
  2. Engine/transmission hoist VAG1594A
  1. Pry off covers using a screwdriver.

  1. Remove bolts (- arrows -) and remove cover for kick down switch.
  2. Disconnect electrical harness connector.
  3. Connect multimeter at kick down switch for resistance measurement.

Specified value: infinity ohms (no continuity)

  1. Move accelerator pedal slowly in direction of Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

Shortly after kickdown point, resistance must drop to 0 ohms

If indications do not resemble description

  1. Replace kick down switch --> «Kick Down Switch, Removing and Installing»(/audi/a8/d3-2005-2007/remont/cooling-fan/#42l-v8-5v-generic-scan-tool-engine-codes-bfm__kick-down-switch-removing-and-installing) .
  2. Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM) --> «Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory»(/audi/a8/d3-2005-2007/remont/cooling-fan/#42l-v8-5v-generic-scan-tool-engine-codes-bfm__diagnostic-mode-04-erase-dtc) .
  3. Generate readiness code --> «Readiness Code, Generating»(/audi/a8/d3-2005-2007/remont/cooling-fan/#42l-v8-5v-generic-scan-tool-engine-codes-bfm__readiness-code-generating) .
