Remove switch for seat adjustment

  1. Remove screws -5- and/or -6- (2 Nm/18 in.lb.). (Scheme 1) CAUTION: Note on vehicles with side airbag the instruction for installing the seat. See «VEHICLES WITH SIDE AIRBAG»(ref-196888-S14091792222005101000000).

Headrest adjustment motor and sensor, removing and installing

  1. Seat removed
  2. Seatback cover and seatback cushion

End switch for headrest adjustment, removing and installing

  1. Seat removed
  2. Seatback cover and seatback cushion
  1. Drill out two rivets on headrest adjustment cover and remove cover.
  2. Drill out 2 rivets -3- and -4-. see scheme 45
  3. Remove retaining bracket for end switch for headrest adjustment.
  4. Unhook wire bracket for seatback cushion to upper strap (arrow).
  5. Cut tie wraps open and disconnect connectors -1-, -2- and -5-.

Pump, pressure switch and valve block for lumbar adjustment, removing and installing

  1. Seat removed
  2. Seatback cover and seatback cushion
  1. Cut open tie wrap to protective sack, release sack from seatback frame (double sided ban) and remove.
  2. Remove valve block for lumbar adjustment -3- from seatback frame. see scheme 46
  3. Loosen air pillow -1- and -2- carefully from styro plate (double adhesive).
  4. Disconnect connectors to pump for lumbar adjustment -5-, to pressure switch for lumbar adjustment -4- and to valve block -3- for lumbar adjustment.
  5. Remove affected hoses.

Motor and sensor for seatback, adjustment and installing

  1. Seat removed
  2. Seatback cover and seatback cushion

Current supply relay for seat adjustment, removing and installing

  1. Seat removed

Control module for seat adjustment with memory, removing and installing

  1. Front and rear seat height adjuster in highest position
  2. Seat removed

  1. Remove nuts (arrows) several rotations.
  2. Remove control module for seat adjustment with memory from bracket.
  3. Remove connector. NOTE: Colors of connector are stamped into connector fields of control module.

Electric headrest adjustment, removing and installing

  1. Electric headrest adjustment Remove back rest. See «REAR SEATBACK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(ref-196888-S17478612132005101000000) . Remove upholstery from rear seatback. Disengage lumbar cover. See «ELECTRIC LUMBAR ADJUSTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(ref-196888-S18013053112005101000000) . Disconnect harness connector -9-. Remove nuts -12-. Remove nuts -7-.

Electric lumbar adjustment, removing and installing

Note. The following list refers to see scheme 70.

  1. Lumbar adjustment unit Removing: Remove back rest. See «REAR SEATBACK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(ref-196888-S17478612132005101000000) . Remove upholstery from rear seatback. Disengage loop -7-. Fold cover -10- down. Bend open tabs at top -9- and bottom. Disengage brackets -8- and -5-. Separate bracket -6- from lumbar adjustment unit -1-. Remove spring clip to hinge from transmission of motor for vertical lumbar adjustment. Remove spring clip at lumbar adjustment unit -1- from shaft -2- and remove shaft from lumbar adjustment unit -1-. Installing: Center lumbar adjustment unit -1- to mounting strap of rear seatback.

  1. Motor for vertical lumbar adjustment Remove back rest. See «REAR SEATBACK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(ref-196888-S17478612132005101000000) . Remove upholstery from rear seatback. Disconnect harness connector -4-. Remove nuts -3-. Remove spring clip to hinge -7- from transmission -6-. Remove spring clip at lumbar adjustment unit from shaft -2- and remove shaft from lumbar adjustment unit. Disconnect motor for vertical lumbar adjustment -1- from bracket.

  3. Nut 3x Tightening torque 2 Nm.

Remove spring clip at lumbar adjustment unit from shaft -2- and remove shaft from lumbar adjustment unit. Disconnect motor for lumbar height adjustment -5- from bracket.
