REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. |
- On vehicles produced from 1997-99, remove noise insulation panel bolts (arrows). (Scheme 3) Remove intake hose from generator.
- On vehicles produced from 2000 and on, remove noise insulation panel bolts (arrows). (Scheme 4) If panel is obstructed, remove auxiliary heater screws (1). Pull air duct hose off generator.
- On all vehicles, mark direction of belt. Release tension from belt by pulling belt down by hand (lower arrow), and inserting Drift (3204) (upper arrow). (Scheme 6) Remove belt.
- Disconnect terminal 30/B+ (1) from generator. (Scheme 5) Disconnect terminal D+ (2).
- Remove bolts (1). (Scheme 7) Remove bolt (2). Pull generator (4) down, and remove from engine.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-99590-S09273866502001072400000).

Removal & Installation (With Freewheel)
- Remove generator. See «GENERATOR»(ref-99590-S09680860072004081300000).
- Using Adapter (3400), counter-hold securing nut. (Scheme 8) Turn generator shaft clockwise to remove.
- To install, turn generator shaft counterclockwise. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-99590-S09273866502001072400000). Clip protective cap onto freewheel pulley.

Removal & Installation (Without Freewheel)
- Using Socket (3310), counter-hold securing nut. (Scheme 9) Turn generator shaft clockwise to remove.
- To install, turn generator shaft counterclockwise. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-99590-S09273866502001072400000).
