Valve Adjuster Noise Audi A6 C4

  1. Irregular valve noise during cranking is normal. If valve noise is irregular under all conditions, perform Valve Adjuster Inspection. If valve noise is irregular during stop-and-go driving in traffic but is okay during cruise, replace oil retention valves. See «OIL RETENTION VALVES»(ref-49283-S27547239922001091300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. If valve noise is irregular on one entire cylinder bank, replace pressure relief valve (screwed into top of cylinder head, accessible with valve cover removed). Apply Locking Compound (AMV 197 000 01) to relief valve threads and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49283-S20244492162001091300000) .
