1. Fenders Removing -- Remove front bumper. Refer to «FRONT BUMPER COVER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-avant__front-bumper-cover) . -- Remove wheel housing liner. Refer to «FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-avant__front-wheel-housing-liner) . -- End plate, removing, refer to «END PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-front-avant) . -- Remove the bolts -2- and -4- and nuts -7- and the fender. Installing in reverse order

Fender Brace

1. Brace -- The bumper is removed and press the wheel housing liner to the side in the area of the brace. -- Remove the nuts -2- to remove it.
2. Nut 8 Nm NOTE: The brace is secured on the right side with bolts tightened to 10 Nm.

Fender Seal

1. Seal Self-adhesive. Remove the protective film and slide the seal onto the fender mounting flange under the wheel housing liner as illustrated.
2. Fender Flange Slide the seal onto the fender flange between the wheel housing liner and the inside of the fender.

2. End Plate -- Remove front wheel. -- Remove the rear part from the wheel housing liner. Refer to «FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-avant__front-wheel-housing-liner) . Loosen the windshield washer fluid reservoir on the left side. -- Remove the bolts -3-, unclip the end plate from the fender rear bracket, refer to item 6 and slide it downward.

Before the end plate -1- can be removed downward, it must first be unclipped from the bracket -arrow- for the fender -2-.

LOCK CARRIER, SERVICE POSITION

1. Guide Pins T10093

Note. For the Service position, no lines and/or circuits are disconnected or opened, for example engine cooling system, A/C system, etc. When installing the lock carrier, make sure that no lines or cables get pinched or kinked at the connecting points.

1. Lock Carrier Service Position: CAUTION: If the vehicle has distance regulation (ACC), not the following: If the lock carrier is removed and re-installed or changes are made to >>ACC<< bracket, distance regulation adjustment must be carried out. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/wheel-tire-system/#wheels-tires-and-vehicle-alignment-avant) . -- Disconnect battery. -- Remove the front bumper. Refer to «FRONT BUMPER COVER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-avant__front-bumper-cover) . -- Remove the upper cover on the lock carrier. Refer to «REMOVING THE LOCK CARRIER COVER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-front-avant) . -- Remove the bumper lower noise insulation bolts. -- Disconnect the hood release cable at the coupling. Refer to «HOOD RELEASE CABLE OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood-lids-avant) . -- Remove the coolant reservoir screws. Refer to «REMOVE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-front-avant) . -- Pull the reservoir upward and out of its retainer. -- Disconnect the headlamp connectors. -- On vehicles with charge air cooler, pressure hoses must also be disconnected. -- Remove the lower right and left bolts from the longitudinal member. -- Install the outer left and right T10093 guide Pins into the open thread. -- Install the remaining screws. -- Pull the lock carrier and the coolant reservoir forward onto the guide Pins, being careful not to bend the lines. CAUTION: When removing lock carrier, wiring must not be pinched or kinked. To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. After installing, check the headlamp aim and adjust if necessary.
2. Bolt 6 Nm Do not remove for service position.
3. Bolt 30 Nm Guide Pins T10093 are installed in free threads at outer left and right.

Install the guide Pins on the lower mount into the longitudinal member as illustrated.

Before the lock carrier can be pulled forward, remove the lower nuts on the reservoir -arrows- and pull it upward out of the grommet.

Tighten the screws to 5 Nm.

LOCK CARRIER WITH ATTACHMENTS OVERVIEW

1. Bolt 30 Nm 3 pieces per side.
2. Side Impact Bar Secured to the lock carried with the bolt -3-. Do not remove with the bracket when removing the lock carrier.
3. Bolt 4 Nm Secures the impact bar to the lock carrier.
4. Lock Carrier NOTE: Drain the coolant before removing. Refer to «General Information»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/cooling-fan/#20l-cooling-system-engine-codes-caeb-avant) . Removing Removing the lock carrier cover. Refer to «REMOVING THE LOCK CARRIER COVER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-front-avant) . -- Remove front bumper. Refer to «FRONT BUMPER COVER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-avant__front-bumper-cover) . -- Disconnect all electrical wires and hoses to the lock carrier at the connection points. -- Disconnect the hood lock cable at the coupling. Refer to «HOOD RELEASE CABLE OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood-lids-avant) . -- Remove the bolts -5-. -- Remove the bolts -1- on the longitudinal member (quantity: 3 per side). NOTE: The impact absorbers with the brackets are secured to the lock carrier with one bolt each -1- and must not be removed. -- Remove the bolts -6- on the lower lock carrier. -- Remove the lock carrier with the headlamps forward. Installing in reverse order. Adjust the headlamps after installing.

1. Cover To remove, remove the locking pin and release the expanding clip. Remove the expanding clip from the cover. Remove the cover back from the radiator grille. When installing, the tabs on the cover must engage on the radiator grille and on the sides of the bumper cover. Insert the expanding clip through the cover into the lock carrier and press the locking pin in.
2. Spreader Clip Remove the clamping pin when removing. Only press the clamping pin in when installing. Quantity: 4

2. Left Lock Carrier Brace Attached to the mounting bracket with the nut -6-.

2. Lock Washer When installing, simply press the plenum chamber bulkhead onto the threaded Pins.
3. Insulation The lock washer secures the insulation to the plenum chamber bulkhead.

5. Plenum Chamber Bulkhead NOTE: Note the different versions when removing. Before removing: -- Remove the tower brace. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/suspension-front/#front-suspension-avant) . -- Loosen the washer fluid reservoir. -- Disconnect the vacuum line to the brake booster at the connection to the plenum chamber bulkhead. -- Unclip the vacuum line from the plenum chamber bulkhead. To remove, remove the bolts -1- and nut -4-.
6. Seal Install the seal from underneath.

8. Edge Protection Slide the edge protection onto the tab on the plenum chamber bulkhead.

Note. Note different versions. Additional covers may also have to be removed first depending on vehicle equipment.

1. Right Auxiliary Cover Remove the front clip first when removing. NOTE: The cover and the plenum chamber cover may be one piece depending on vehicle equipment. Lift the front cover and remove it from the plenum chamber cover.
2. Plenum Chamber Cover Windshield wiper arms removed. The left, center and right auxiliary covers are removed. Remove the clamps -3-. NOTE: For easier removal/installation, spray windshield edge strip with soapy solution. Remove trim panel upward diagonally from edge frame beginning at window edge. CAUTION: Risk of window breaking during installation Do not hit the trim when installing it. Carefully press in trim sideways, beginning in the edge frame.
3. Clips Slide the clamps to the places shown after removing the plenum chamber cover.
4. Windshield

Auxiliary Covers, Removing

1. Center Auxiliary Cover First unclip the bottom front, then loosen the rear retainers -2- (press together lightly from below) and remove it upward from the plenum chamber cover.
2. Catch While removing, lightly compress it at the bottom and slide it out.
3. Left Auxiliary Cover First unclip the bottom front, then loosen the rear retainers and remove it upward out of the plenum chamber cover.

Removing

Remove the bolts -3-.

Unclip the clips -2- from the mount and remove the plenum chamber cover -1-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.
