Removing

  1. Door trim removed. See «FRONT DOOR TRIM COMPONENTS, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-except-cabriolet__front-door-trim-components-assembly-overview) . NOTE: Window lifter motor can be removed or installed with the motor or door window in any position. Disconnect connectors before removing motor.
  2. Remove TORX bolts (T30) -2- and remove motor.

Installing

  1. When installing, make sure that threaded pins -arrows- are engaged in inner door plate.
  2. Slide on window lifter motor -1- and secure using bolts -2-.
  3. Tightening torque 3.5 Nm

Note. After motor has been installed and wires connected, first turn ignition on and off again. Next, close door window completely and continue to pull window lifter switch for approx. 2 seconds. This position is the basic position which activates automatic one-touch function.

Front door, adjusting

Note. Rear door shell must be adjusted if this has not already been done. Joint dimensions can be checked using special tool 3371.

  1. Dimension A = 3.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm.
  2. Dimension B = 4.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm.
  3. Dimension C = 0 mm+ 1 mm flush when running parallel to body.

Adjusting in relation to body contour

  1. Longitudinal adjustment is achieved by loosening hinge bolts arrow -A- on A-pillar on upper and/or lower door hinge and by moving doors -2- (oversized holes in hinge or in A-pillar)
  2. Tightening torque 32 Nm
  3. Door hinge -1
  4. A-pillar -3
  5. Door -2

Note. Fig. shows lower door hinge.

Scheme 2

Scheme 2

Adjusting in relation to vehicle center

Note. A collared shoulder bolt is installed into door side of upper and lower door hinges. During repair work, adjustment is therefore generally not required. If adjustment is necessary nevertheless, shoulder bolts can be replaced by bolts of the same size, length and strength (available in Parts List).

  1. Adjust in relation to vehicle center by loosening hinge bolts arrow -B- at top and/or bottom of door and by moving doors (elongated holes in hinge)
  2. Tightening torque 32 Nm NOTE: Adjust rear area of door (in relation to vehicle center) by means of striker plate.
  3. Loosen bolts -2
  4. Use marks arrows -a- or arrows -c- for lateral adjustment.
  5. Move striker plate -1- until door shell is flush with body contour. NOTE: Position may only be adjusted with respect to center of vehicle and not in terms of height.
  6. Use marks arrows -b- or arrows -d- for height adjustment.
  7. When correctly adjusted, striker plate must advance centrally into door lock.
  8. Tighten bolts to 25 Nm.

Front door, adjustment dimensions

The following list pertains to see scheme 12.

  1. Window frame When door is correctly adjusted, contours of sealing lip must lie snugly against roof frame and B-pillar (see arrows).
  2. Door window Adjust door so that dimension -d- = 4 mm in the area -c- = 365 mm. You can check dimension -d- with the aid of an improvised gauge, see «Making improvised gauge»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-except-cabriolet__making-improvised-gauge) . Dimension -b- starting from rear door edge at B-pillar = 200 mm.
  3. Window frame Door window -2-, dimension -a- = 7.5 mm -1 mm, must advance deep into window frame at B-pillar.

Making improvised gauge

  1. Make improvised gauge (e.g. plastic or plywood) in line with specified dimensions.
  2. Dimension -a- = 4 mm
  3. Dimension -b- = 30 mm
  4. If door subframe has been properly adjusted, gauge placed approx. 200 mm from B-pillar must make contact with both door window and roof trim strip over a length of approx. 365 mm.
