Window regulator, assembly overview

The following list pertains to (Scheme 7).

  1. Impact bar Removing: Removing door trim. See «FRONT DOOR TRIMS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) Window regulator removed. Unscrew the Torx bolts -3- and -8-, and remove the impact bar upward.
  2. Front door Joint dimensions, see «JOINT DIMENSIONS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__joint-dimensions)
  3. Bolt 8 Nm
  4. Torx bolt 30 Nm

  7. Window regulator Removing: Removing door trim. See «FRONT DOOR TRIMS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) Detach connectors. Remove the window regulator motor, see «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet) . Unscrew the bolts -2-, and the hexnuts -4-; -7- and -9-. Pull the window regulator upward out of the door.
  8. Hex nut 8 Nm
  9. Torx bolt 30 Nm
  10. Hex nut 8 Nm

Removing

  1. Door trim removed. See «FRONT DOOR TRIMS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet)

Note. The window regulator motor can be installed or removed with the motor and door window in any position. Disconnect connectors before removing motor. Unscrew Torx bolts -2- (T30) and remove motor.

Installing

  1. During installation ensure that the threaded stems -arrows- are engaged in the inner door panel.
  2. Push on window regulator motor -1- and secure with bolts -2-.
  3. Tightening torque 4 Nm

Note. After installing the motor and wiring, first turn the ignition on and off. Then run the door window up to the stop position and hold the window regulator switch pulled for approx. another 2 seconds. The window regulator is now in the basic setting and the up/down function is activated.

Joint dimensions

Note. The joint dimensions can be checked using the special tool 3371.

  1. Dimension -A- = 3.5 mm + 0.5 mm
  2. Dimension -B- = 3.5 mm + 0.5 mm
  3. Dimension -C- = 5.0 mm => 1 mm

Lower door hinge, assembly overview

The following list pertains to (Scheme 10).

  1. Lower A-pillar
  2. Torx bolt (T45) 32 Nm
  3. Hex bolt 32 Nm Installed from inside of vehicle.
  4. Lower door hinge To remove, remove bolts -2-, -3- and -9-. Remove door hinge.
  5. Hollow rivet (2x)
  6. Shim plate
  7. Impact bar mount To remove, drill rivet heads off hollow rivets -5-, and drive out shank.
  8. Front door
  9. Torx bolt 32 Nm

Upper door hinge

  1. Torx bolt (T45) -1- (installed from inside of vehicle) 32 Nm.
  2. Top door hinge-2-.
  3. Trim cap -3-.
  4. Torx bolt (T45) -4- 32 Nm.
  5. Fitted bolt -5- (T45) 32 Nm.

Door window, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 6.

  1. Window regulator Need not be removed to remove door window.
  2. Clamping bolt 6 Nm
  3. Clamping jaw With captive bolt 6 Nm
  4. Door window Removing door trim. See «FRONT DOOR TRIMS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) To remove, move the window regulator downward by 120 mm from the upper stop position. Unscrew the bolt -2- and detach the bolted connection from the clamping jaw -3-. Pull out the window upward. Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Front door handle and door lock, assembly overview

  2. Door lock Removing: Door trim removed Window regulator removed, see «FRONT DOOR»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet) . To remove unscrew multi-point bolts -4- and remove door lock downward.
  3. Operating rod Clipping into door lock, see «ENGAGING OPERATING ROD IN DOOR LOCK»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__engaging-operating-rod-in-door-lock)
  4. Multi-point socket-head bolt 20 Nm
  5. Lock cylinder cover Lock cylinder removed and unclip cover

Lock cylinder, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 8.

  1. Trim cap Pry out
  2. Securing clip Engages in the lock cylinder groove.
  3. Door handle Removing, see «FRONT DOOR HANDLE AND DOOR LOCK, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__front-door-handle-and-door-lock)
  4. Lock cylinder Removing: Open the driver's side door and lever out the cover cap -1-. Turn Torx bolt -arrow- counterclockwise up to stop. This causes the securing clip -2- to move back and release the lock cylinder. Pull lock cylinder out of door handle. Install in reverse sequence to removal.
  5. Locking cylinder trim cap Carefully disengage hook from catch when disassembling and retrieve protective cap rearward to the side from the locking pin. To install first insert the web with the square hole onto the housing pin. Press the trim cap onto the housing until the locking hooks engage.

Door handle, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 9.

  1. Door handle
  2. Clip Unclip operating rod -3- here when disassembling door handle -1-.
  3. Operating rod Detach at clip -2- before removing door handle After inserting new door lock first insert operating rod in sliding collar and lock. Then pull locating pin -5- out of door lock.
  4. Sliding collar Move sliding collar -4- upward to lock operating rod -3-.
  5. Locating pin Provided only with replacement part. Pull out after installing operating rod -3-.
  6. Door lock Removal, see «FRONT DOOR HANDLE AND DOOR LOCK, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__front-door-handle-and-door-lock) .

Releasing mount for door handle

  1. Door trim, window frame and window regulator removed.
  2. Insert screwdriver through door panel and unlock slider -2-from door handle -1- in direction of arrow.

Removing cover

  1. To remove, pull up door handle -1- and push out catch -3- in axial direction -arrow- with small screwdriver.
  2. Disengage trim -2- at top from side and detach from door handle downward.
  3. Install in reverse order.

Door lock, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 12.

  1. Multi-point bolt M8 20 Nm
  2. Shim plate
  3. Door lock Door trim removed. Window regulator removed. Detach connector on door lock. If the same door lock is to be re-installed, disengage the operating rod on the door handle. If the door lock is to be replaced, disengage the operating rod on the door lock. See «ENGAGING OPERATING ROD IN DOOR LOCK»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__engaging-operating-rod-in-door-lock) . Unclip operating rod from door lock at sliding collar. Unscrew multipoint bolts -1- and take out door lock.
  4. Release lever
  5. Bowden cable for interior door handle To install as illustrated insert vertically in release lever then swivel 90=> and as a security measure clip into door lock.

Engaging operating rod in door lock

  1. When installing new door lock, clip operating rod -1- into sliding collar.
  2. Move slider -2- of sliding collar upward to lock operating rod.
  3. Remove locking pin -3- from door lock.

Rear window regulator, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 14.

  1. Side panel
  2. Hex nuts 8 Nm
  3. Side windows Removing, see «REAR SIDE WINDOW, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet__rear-side-window-assembly-overview)
  4. Window regulator Side window removed before disassembling. Remove the rear side trim. Run the door window downward by 120 mm from the upper stop position. Unscrew nuts -2-. Loosen nuts -6- from adjusting bolts -5-. Pull the door window upward out of the door. Installation is in reverse order of removal.
  5. Adjusting bolt (3x) Special tool V.A.G 1739 is required for adjustment purposes. Using these bolts, the side window tilt angle as well as the lateral position of the window may be adjusted. 20 Nm
  6. Collar nut 20 Nm

Rear side window, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 15.

  1. Angle bracket
  2. Spacer Note installation position see scheme 16
  3. Rear side window
  4. Shim Must engage when pressed in place on retaining pins of angular bracket.
  5. Window regulator Removal, see «REAR WINDOW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#front-doors-central-locking-system-cabriolet).
  6. Combi nut 6 Nm
  7. Motor for window regulator Can be removed and installed in any window regulator position. Upon removal, the cable tension roller must not separate from the window regulator. To remove unscrew bolts -8- and carefully pry off motor from tension roller.
  8. Bolt 4.5 Nm

Shim installation position

Note. Window assembly must be performed with window regulator installed.

  1. Attach the shim -2- onto the angular bracket pin -1- as shown and insert the pre-assembled window -3- into the window regulator -4-.
  2. Push the window -5- from the reverse side onto the pins and tighten the hex nut to 6 Nm.

  1. V.A.G 1739 Side trim removed: See «FRONT DOOR TRIMS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Rear seat bench removed: See «REAR SEATS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/seats/#seats-frames-cabriolet) NOTE: By turning the adjustment bolt -2- in or out, the window regulators -4-can be adjusted in direction of arrow. Adjust the side window with the convertible top closed by slightly loosening the collar nuts -3- and rotating the collar bolts -2- in the welded nut -1- using V.A.G 1739. The side window must fully slide into the convertible top window seal. Tighten the collar nuts and collar bolts to 20 Nm.

Assembly overview

Remove fuel tank cap unlocking motor -V155

  1. Disconnect connector.
  2. Release bolts -arrows- with special tool T 10010, push actuator -1- upward and remove.
  3. Before installing actuator, emergency release -2- must be pushed over the locking pin.
  4. Actuator locking pin must engage cleanly in the closed fuel tank cap -2-.
  5. Grommet -1- clipped in place.
  6. Unscrew bolts -5- (2x) to remove fuel tank flap.
  7. Tighten bolts -5- (2x) to 1.5 Nm upon installation.
  8. Joint dimensions, see «JOINT DIMENSIONS»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood-lids-cabriolet__joint-dimensions)
