Note. When re-connecting battery, remember to activate vehicle equipment (radio/radio/navigation system, clock, electric windows) in accordance with owner's manual. The immobilizer control module is integrated in instrument cluster, i.e. it is replaced together with instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Malfunctioning transponder and/or lost keys

  1. The transponder is integrated in key.
  2. The complete key must be replaced if transponder is malfunctioning or if a key is lost. Order replacement key with integrated transponder on the basis of the lock number. Perform adaptation for all vehicle keys.

Pull left sticker -1- (with no bar code) off new key ring and stick it onto customer's key ring in place of old left sticker.
  2. Immobilizer control module integrated in instrument cluster The Dealer must establish the PIN number on the basis of the 14-position identification number of the immobilizer/engine control module using direct system checking (as for direct checking of radio code). It is also possible to obtain secret number from appropriate regional sales center or importer. The 14-digit identification number of immobilizer can be read out via self-diagnosis function. Use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
CAUTIONThe secret number is intended for internal use only and should not be given to the customer.

System, testing

Note. The immobilizer is deactivated for a period of 10 minutes after every successful log-in function: The operation of system should not be tested during this period.

  1. Switch off ignition for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Cover reader coil with a slotted metal plate, for example by positioning appropriate shim on ignition lock and inserting ignition key through hole into ignition lock. or
  3. Disconnect wire of reader coil at connector between ignition/starter switch and instrument cluster.
  4. Start engine. The engine must not run and warning light must flash.
  5. Start self-diagnosis of immobilizer and check DTC memory.

Use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.

One of following two fault messages should appear on display

  1. Key signal too low or
  2. Immobilizer reader coil-D2 Erase DTC memory and end output.
