Power Mirror Defogger Auto Operation Function

When the outside air temperature is 41 °F (5 °C) or below and the ignition switch is turned to ON (II), the left and right power mirror defoggers automatically turn on. The power mirror defogger auto operation function is controlled by the door multiplex control unit.

Scheme 12

Scheme 12: Power Mirror Defogger Auto Operation Function
  1. When the door multiplex control unit receives a signal that the outside air temperature is 41 °F (5 °C) or below from the climate control unit, the door multiplex control unit automatically turns on the left and right power mirror defoggers within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON (II).
  2. Power mirror defogger output automatically stops in 10 minutes as a result of its timer.
  3. If the door multiplex control unit receives a rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch input signal from the climate control unit during power mirror defogger output, the door multiplex control unit shuts off the auto operation function immediately.
  4. While the power mirror defogger auto operation function is operating, the rear window defogger does not automatically operate.
  5. The power mirror defogger auto operation function stops temporarily when any power window is operated during power mirror defogger output. (Scheme 12): Power Mirror System Diagram

Function Test

Note. The right power mirror actuator is controlled by the front passenger's power window switch. When the power mirror switch is operated, the power window master switch receives the signals from the power window master switch and send them to the front passenger's power window switch. So if there is malfunction of the right power mirror actuator operation, do the door multiplex control unit input test (see POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH INPUT TEST ) and front passenger's power window switch input test (see FRONT PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH INPUT TEST ). Also, the power mirror defoggers, position sensor and retractable power mirrors are controlled by door multiplex control unit and front passenger's power window switch, do the door multiplex control unit input test (see FRONT PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH INPUT TEST ) and front passenger's power window switch input test (see FRONT PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH INPUT TEST ).

Scheme 16: Left Power Mirror Function Test
  1. Remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors-v6__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 20P connector (A) from the driver's door subharness.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  4. Measure the voltage between body ground and terminal No. 3 of the driver's door subharness 20P connector with the ignition switch to ON (II). There should be battery voltage. If there is no voltage, check for: Blown No. 16 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. An open or high resistance in the LT GRN wire. If there is battery voltage, go to step 5 .
  5. Check for continuity between terminal No. 1 of the driver's door subharness 20P connector and body ground. There should be continuity. If there is no continuity, check for: An open or high resistance in the BLK wire. Poor ground (G501). If there is continuity, go to step 6 .
  6. Connect terminals No. 3 and No. 14, and terminals No. 15 (or No. 4) and No. 1 with jumper wires. The left mirror should tilt down (or swing left) with the ignition switch to ON (II). If the left mirror does not tilt down (or does not swing left), check for an open in the GRY (or YEL) wire between the left mirror and the 20P connector. If the wire is OK, check the left mirror actuator. If the mirror neither tilts down nor swings left, repair the PUR wire. If the mirror works properly, check the power mirror switch.

Power Window Master Switch Input Test

Note. Before testing, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control unit first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).
