Hood Opener Cable Replacement

  1. Remove these items: Front grille cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim-v6__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ) Front inner fender, driver's side, as needed (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell-v6__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel, driver's side (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ) Air intake cover (see «AIR CLEANER ELEMENT INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system-v6) )
  2. Remove the bolts, and pull up the left radiator upper bracket (A) to release it from the radiator (B), then remove the bracket.
  3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/communication-devices/#openers-v6__hood-latch-replacement) ).
  4. Detach the clips with a clip remover.
  5. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood release handle (8) (see «HOOD RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/communication-devices/#openers-v6__hood-release-handle-replacement) ).
  6. Remove the grommet (C) then remove the hood opener cable.
  7. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. When installing the opener cable under the dashboard, route the cable over the ground harness (D).

Trunk Lid Opener Cable Replacement

  1. Remove these items: Rear bulkhead cover (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SHELF AREA»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__trim-removalinstallation-rear-shelf-area) ) Trunk side trim panels, both sides (see «REAR PARCEL SHELF DYNAMIC DAMPER»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__rear-parcel-shelf-dynamic-damper) ) Trunk lid hinge trim, right side (see «TRUNK LID HINGE TRIM»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__trunk-lid-hinge-trim) )
  2. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable from the trunk lid lock cylinder (see «TRUNK LID LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/communication-devices/#openers-v6__trunk-lid-lock-cylinder-replacement) ). Pull out the cable from the trunk compartment through the hole in the body.
  3. Detach the clips (A, B) fastening the trunk lid opener cable (C) with a clip remover.
  4. Remove the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the trunk lid. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable from the trunk lid latch (B) (see «TRUNK LID LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/communication-devices/#openers-v6__trunk-lid-latch-replacement) ). Detach the clips (C, D).
  5. Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Replace any damaged clips. Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown.

Hood Latch Replacement

  1. Remove the front grille cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim-v6__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ).
  2. Remove the bolts, and detach the harness clips (A), then remove the hood latch cover (B).
  3. Remove the hood latch mounting bolts, then remove the hood latch (A). Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch.
  4. Disconnect the hood latch switch connector (C).
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to each location on the hood latch indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly and hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood-v6) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.

Hood Release Handle Replacement

  1. Remove the driver's kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood release handle (A).
  3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood release handle.
  4. Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the hood opens properly.

  1. Remove the left trunk side trim panel (see «REAR PARCEL SHELF DYNAMIC DAMPER»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__rear-parcel-shelf-dynamic-damper) ).
  2. Disconnect the fuel fill door actuator connector (A).
  3. Loosen the bolts. Remove the fuel fill door actuator (A) by sliding it upward, and remove the rod (B) from the grommet (C).
  4. Install the actuator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the actuator connector is plugged in properly, and the rod is inserted to the grommet securely. Apply multipurpose grease to the rod (A) where it slides inside the grommet (B). Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.

Trunk Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement

  1. Remove the rear shelf (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SHELF AREA»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__trim-removalinstallation-rear-shelf-area) ).
  2. Detach the cable fastener (A), and disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (B) from the trunk key cylinder bracket (C).
  3. Remove the bolts securing the bracket (A).
  4. Remove the bracket (A).
  5. Remove the bolt. Release the hook (A) by turning the trunk lid lock cylinder (B) 45°, then remove the cylinder from the bracket (C).
  6. Install the cylinder in reverse order of removal, and note these items: Replace the damaged cable fastener with a new one. Make sure the opener cable is connected properly. When installing the bracket, first tighten the inside mounting bolt, then tighten the outside mounting bolt. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.

Trunk Lid Latch Replacement

Special Tools Required

KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014*

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the trunk lid. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components. Take care not to kink the cable.

  1. Remove the trunk lid trim panel (see «REAR WHEELHOUSE INSULATOR»(/acura/tsx/ii-2008-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-v6__rear-wheelhouse-insulator) ).
  2. Insert a trim tool through the latch cover (A) opening, and pry on the cover to release the hooks (B). Pull out the cover, and release the tab (C) from the trunk lid latch (D), then remove the latch cover.
  3. Disconnect the trunk lid latch connector (E), and remove the bolts, then remove the latch.
  4. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A).
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely. Fix the original position of the outer end of cable (A) on the trunk lid latch securely. And check the trunk lid latch operation: Make sure the trunk lid latch unlock when turning the trunk lid cylinder with a key. If necessary, adjust the position of the cable end.
