SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING REFERENCE CHART

Resetting the Moonroof Control Unit

Reset the moonroof after doing any of the following actions

  1. The moonroof was moved manually while the battery was dead or disconnected
  2. The moonroof motor was replaced with a new one
  3. Any components related to the moonroof were replaced or removed and reinstalled
  1. Wind deflector
  2. Moonroof glass
  3. Moonroof seal
  4. Moonroof glass bracket
  5. Moonroof cables, etc

To reset the moonroof control unit, do these steps

  1. Close the driver's door, and leave it closed until the procedure is complete
  2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  3. Press and hold the tilt switch, and turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode
  4. Release the tilt switch, and turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 four times
  6. Check if the AUTO OPEN and AUTO CLOSE functions still work If they still work, the AUTO functions have not been cleared, go back to step 1 If the AUTO functions have been cleared, go to step 7
  7. Press and hold the moonroof open switch for at least 3 additional seconds after the moonroof is fully opened
  8. Press and hold the moonroof close switch for at least 3 additional seconds after the moonroof is fully closed (tilted)
  9. Confirm that the moonroof control unit is reset by using the moonroof AUTO OPEN and AUTO CLOSE function

Moonroof Control Unit Input Test

Note. If the moonroof works OK manually, but will not work in AUTO, or reverses frequently (obstacle detection), reset the moonroof (see RESETTING THE MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT ) before proceeding with the input test

  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  2. Remove the headliner (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__headliner-removalinstallation) )
  3. Disconnect the 14P connector (A) from the moonroof control unit/motor (B)
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system If the terminals look OK, go to step 5
  5. With the connector still disconnected, do this input test at the following connector If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system If the input test proves OK, go to step 6 WIRE TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART Cavity Wire Test condition Test Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained 11 PNK Under all conditions Check for continuity between moonroof switch 14P connector terminal No 11 and power window master switch 37P connector terminal No 27 There should be continuity An open in the UART wire Check for continuity between moonroof switch 14P connector terminal No 11 and body ground There should be no continuity A short to ground in the wire
  6. Reconnect the connector to the control unit, and do these input tests at the following connector If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 7 WIRE TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART Cavity Wire Test condition Test.
