Glass Position Adjustment
The roof panel (A) should be even with the glass weatherstrip (B), to within 0+1/-1 mm (0+0 04/-0 04 in) all the way around If not, make the following adjustment

- Remove the bracket cover (see step 3 under Glass Replacement)
- Adjust the glass (A) Slightly loosen the screws with a TORX T25 bit Move the glass up or down Tighten all bolts securely
- If necessary, repeat on the opposite side

- Close the glass fully
- Slide the sunshade all the way back
- Pry out the cap (A) Remove the screw (B), and release the guide pin (C), then remove the bracket cover (D) Repeat on the opposite side Remove the screws (E) with a TORX T25 bit from the glass brackets (F) on both sides
- Remove the glass (A) by lifting it up Do not damage the roof panel

- Remove the moonroof glass (see «Glass Replacement»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) )
- Place a piece of masking tape (A) on the middle of the front edge of the moonroof glass (B) Make sure that the tape is on the glass only, and is not touching the weatherstrip
- Place a mark (C) on the masking tape that aligns with the seam (D) of the weatherstrip
- Push down on the top of the old weatherstrip with your thumb until a small section separates from the moonroof glass Once a section has started to separate, grip it and pull outward, working around the moonroof glass until the weatherstrip is completely removed (note the locations of the holes in the weatherstrip)
- Align the seam (A) of the new weatherstrip (B) to the mark (C) on the masking tape (D) Make sure the holes are pointed in the same direction as noted in step 4
- Press the ridge of the new weatherstrip into the groove on the moonroof glass starting at the seam Work toward one corner, then go back to the middle and work toward the opposite corner Be careful not to stretch the weatherstrip
- Continue pressing along one side, from corner to corner, then press along the opposite side, from corner to corner
- At the rear of the moonroof glass, continue pressing from one corner to the middle, then press from the opposite corner to the middle until the strip is completely installed
- Reinstall the moonroof glass (see «Glass Replacement»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) )
- Check for proper fit of the new weatherstrip by opening and closing the moonroof

- Open the glass fully
- Disconnect the deflector springs (A) from the bushings (B) on both sides
- Remove the wind deflector (A)
- Install the deflector in the reverse order of removal
- Reset the moonroof control unit (see «RESETTING THE MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#power-moonroof__resetting-the-moonroof-control-unit) )

- Remove the screws securing the dram channel (A)
- Release the drain channel from both hooks (A) of the drain channel slider by pulling it rearward
- Remove the drain channel (A)
- Install the channel in the reverse order of removal, and check the glass position adjustment (see «GLASS POSITION ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof__glass-position-adjustment) )
- Check for water leaks (see step 9 on «DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#door-system__door-glass-adjustment) ) Let the water run freely from a hose without a nozzle Do not use a high-pressure spray

- Remove the dram channel (see «DRAIN CHANNEL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) )
- Slide the sunshade all the way forward
- Disconnect both dram channel rods (A) from both glass brackets (B) by pulling the front of them inward, then remove the rods from both drain channel sliders (C) by lifting them up
- Slide both drain channel sliders (A) forward until they contact both glass brackets (B)
- Remove the screws, then remove both sunshade slider spacers (A)
- While lifting the front portion of the sunshade (A), move the sunshade forward until you can see both sunshade rear hooks (B) Do not damage the sunshade or the hooks
- Remove the screws, then remove both hooks
- Remove the sunshade (A)
- Remove both front sunshade base sliders (A) and both rear sunshade base sliders (B)
- Install the sunshade in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Check the glass position adjustment (see «GLASS POSITION ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof__glass-position-adjustment) ) Reset the moonroof control unit (see «RESETTING THE MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#power-moonroof__resetting-the-moonroof-control-unit) )

Frame and Drain Tube Replacement

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the interior trim or the body, or tear the seat covers.

- Remove the headliner (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__headliner-removalinstallation) )
- Disconnect the dram tubes (A)
- Remove the clips (A) securing roof wire harness (B) and moonroof motor subharness (C) from the moonroof frame (D)
- With an assistant holding the frame (A), remove the bolts starting at the rear, and release the rear hook (B) by moving the frame forward Bolt Specification: 6 x 1.0 mm, 9.8 N.m (1.0 kgf.m, 7.2 lbf.ft)
- With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the frame through the front door opening Front drain tube

- Pull the rear dram valve (A) out of the body hole Tie a string to the top end of the rear dram tube (B), then pull the drain tube down out of the C-pillar Leave the string in the pillar to use when reinstalling the drain tube
- Install the frame and the dram tube in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Before installing the frame, clear the dram tubes and the drain valves using compressed air To install a new drain tube, tie the string left in the body during dram tube removal to the top end of the new drain tube, and pull it up into the roof Check the frame seal Clean the surface of the frame When installing the frame, first attach the rear hook into the body holes Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly When connecting the dram tubes, slide them over the frame nozzles at least 10 mm (0 39 in) Install the tube clips (A) on the drain tubes (B) as shown

- Remove these parts from the frame Sunshade (see «SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) ) Moonroof motor (see «MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) )
- Remove the screws (A) securing the cable tube rear brackets (B) Remove the cable tube side bracket mounting bolts (C) and the cable tube mounting screws (D) from both sides of the frame (E)
- Turn both cable tube side brackets (A) up to release the hooks (B) from the holes in both sides of the frame
- Pivot the glass brackets (C) down by sliding the link lifters (D) back, then slide both glass brackets back with the link lifters
- Slide the cable assembly (E) half-way back
- Release the rear hooks of the slide stops (A) by pushing them forward, then pivot the stops up
- Remove the slide stops (A) and the drain channel sliders (B) from both sides
- Slide the cable assembly (A) and both glass brackets (B) back, from both glass brackets, then remove them from the frame (C)
- Install the slider and cable assembly in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Damaged parts should be replaced Apply multipurpose grease to the glass brackets (A) and the guide rail portion of the frame (B) indicated by the arrows Before reinstalling the motor, make sure both link lifters are parallel, and in the tilt-up position Before reinstalling the motor, install the frame and the glass, then check the opening drag (see «CLOSING FORCE AND OPENING DRAG CHECK»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) ) After reinstalling the motor, reset the moonroof control unit (see «RESETTING THE MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#power-moonroof__resetting-the-moonroof-control-unit) )

- Closing force check Cover the leading edge of the glass (A) with a shop towel (B), and attach a spring scale (C) as shown Have an assistant hold the switch to close the glass while you measure the force required to stop it Read the force as soon as the glass stops moving, then immediately release the switch and the spring scale Closing force 200-290 N (20-30 kgf, 44-66 lbf)
- If the force in not within specification, remove the moonroof motor (see «MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof) ), and check the following items Check the gear teeth and the inner cable for breakage and damage If the gear teeth are broken, replace the motor If the inner cable is damaged, remove the frame (see «Frame and Drain Tube Replacement»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof__frame-and-drain-tube-replacement) ), and replace the cable (see «DRAIN CHANNEL SLIDER AND CABLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof__drain-channel-slider-and-cable-assembly) ) Check the moonroof motor (see «MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#power-moonroof__moonroof-control-unit-input-test) ) If the motor fails to run or doesn't turn smoothly, replace it Check the opening drag Go to step 4
- Opening drag check: Protect the leading edge of the glass with a shop towel (A) Measure the effort required to open the glass using a spring scale (B) as shown
- If the load is over 40 N (4 kgf, 9 lbf), check: The side clearance and glass position adjustment (see «GLASS POSITION ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#moonroof__glass-position-adjustment) ) For broken or damaged sliding parts If any sliding parts are damaged, replace them
- Reset the moonroof control unit (see «RESETTING THE MOONROOF CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#power-moonroof__resetting-the-moonroof-control-unit) ) after reinstalling the moonroof motor
