DTC B1028: Rear Window Wiper Motor (Park) Signal Error
Note. If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).

- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
- Turn the rear wiper switch to ON for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF. Does the rear window wiper motor run? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Go to step 11 .
- Check for DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC B1028 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure. The rear window wiper (Park) signal is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Do the rear «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) . Does the rear wiper motor run and does it pulse normally? YES - Go to step 6. NO - Replace the rear wiper motor and recheck.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) and the rear wiper motor 4P connector.
- Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal of the rear wiper motor 4P connector and the No. 2 terminal of under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P). Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 8. NO - Repair an open in the PUR wire.
- Check for continuity between the rear window wiper motor 4P connector No. 2 terminal and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the PUR wire. NO - Go to step 9.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between the rear window wiper motor 4P connector No. 2 terminal and body ground. Is there voltage? YES - Repair a short to power in the PUR wire. NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Check the No. 8 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES - Go to step 13. NO - Replace the fuse and recheck the system.
- Do the «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) . Does the wiper motor run normally? YES - Go to step 14. NO - Replace the windshield wiper motor and recheck.
- Do the rear window wiper relay test (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#relays__power-relay-test) ). Is the relay OK? YES - Go to step 15. NO - Replace the rear window wiper relay and recheck.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between the No. 7 terminal of under-hood fuse/relay box connector D (8P) and body ground. Is there voltage? YES - Go to step 17. NO - Repair an open in the PNK wire or blown No. 8 fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Measure the voltage between the No. 15 terminal of under-hood fuse/relay box connector F (20P) and body ground. Is there voltage? YES - Go to step 18. NO - Repair an open in the PNK wire.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect under-hood fuse/relay box connector E (10P) and the rear wiper motor 4P connector.
- Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of the rear window wiper motor 4P connector and the No. 2 terminal of under-hood fuse/relay box connector E (10P). Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 21. NO - Repair an open in the GRN wire.
- Check for continuity between the rear window wiper motor 4P connector No. 3 terminal and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 22. NO - Repair an open in the BLK wire or poor ground (G602).
- Disconnect under-hood fuse/relay box connector F (20P) and under-hood fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between the No. 8 terminal of under-hood fuse/relay box connector F (20P) and the No. 3 terminal of under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P). Is there continuity? YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under - dash fuse/relay box. NO - Repair an open in the RED wire.
DTC B1077: Windshield Wiper Motor (Park) Signal Error

- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
- Turn the wiper switch to LOW or HIGH for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF. Do the windshield wipers run? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Go to step 12 .
- Check for DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC B1077 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure. The windshield wiper system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Do the «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) . Does the wiper motor run normally and does it pulse? YES - Go to step 7. NO - Replace the windshield wiper motor and recheck.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) and the windshield wiper motor 5P connector.
- Check for continuity between windshield wiper motor 5P*1 (4P)*2 connector terminal No. 4*1 (No. 3)*2 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) terminal No. 32. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 9. NO - Repair an open in the WHT wire.
- Check for continuity between windshield wiper motor 5P*1 (4P)*2 connector terminal No. 4*1 (No. 3)*2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short in the WHT wire. NO - Go to step 10.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between the No. 4 terminal of the windshield wiper motor 5P connector and body ground. Is there voltage? YES - Repair a short to power in the WHT wire. NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Check the No. 38 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES - Go to step 14. NO - Replace the fuse and recheck the system.
- Do the (see «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) ). Does the wiper motor run normally? YES - Go to step 15. NO - Replace the windshield wiper motor and recheck.*1: '07-08 models *2: '09 model
- Reconnect the windshield wiper motor 5P*1 (4P)*2 connector.
- Measure the voltage between the No. 18 (LO) and No. 19 (HI) terminals of under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) and body ground with the wiper switch in the corresponding position individually. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 17. NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Measure the voltage between windshield wiper motor 5P*1 (4P)*2 connector terminals No. 3*1 (No. 2)*2 (LO) and No. 5 (HI) and body ground with the wiper switch in the corresponding position individually. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 18. NO - Repair an open in the BLU (LO) or YEL (HI) wire.
- Measure the voltage between windshield wiper motor 5P*1 (4P)*2 connector terminal No. 2*1 (No. 1)*2 and body ground. Is there less than 1 V? YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box. NO - Repair an open in the BLK wire or poor ground (G451).

- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and then back ON (II).
- Turn the windshield wiper switch to MIST, INT, LOW, HIGH and OFF positions.
- Check the DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC B1281, B1282, B1283 or B1284 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure, the wiper system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Select WIPERS from the BODY ELECTRICAL menu, and enter the DATA LIST.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (MIST), WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (INT), WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (LOW) and WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (HIGH) in the DATA LIST. Are the WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (MIST) information indicator OFF, WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (INT) information indicator OFF, WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (LOW) information indicator OFF and WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (HIGH) information indicator OFF with the windshield wiper switch in OFF position? YES - Go to step 13 . NO - Go to step 7.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the 8P connector from the windshield wiper switch.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (MIST), WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (INT), WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (LOW) and WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (HIGH) in the DATA LIST. Are the information indicators OFF? YES - Faulty windshield wiper switch; replace it. NO - Go to step 10.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between the body ground and under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminals No. 10, No. 20, and No. 15 individually. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Check the ON/OFF information in the DATA LIST for WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (MIST) with the windshield wiper switch in the MIST position, WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (INT) with the windshield wiper switch in the INT position, WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (LOW) with the windshield wiper switch in the LOW position, and WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (HIGH) with the windshield wiper switch in the HIGH position. Are all the information indicators ON? YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box. NO - Go to step 14.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Check the windshield wiper switch (see «WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) ). Is the windshield wiper switch OK? YES - Go to step 16. NO - Faulty windshield wiper switch, replace it.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) No. 4, No. 10, No. 15 and No. 20 terminals and the windshield wiper switch 8P connector No. 5, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 Is there continuity? YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box. NO - Repair an open in the wire.

- Before troubleshooting the wiper/washer system, refer to B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see «TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/communication-devices/#multiplex-integrated-control-system__troubleshooting-b-can-system-diagnosis-test) ), and check the No. 8 (10 A), No. 10 (7.5 A) and No. 38 (30 A) fuses in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors E, F, S, and T. NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals.
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
- With the connectors still disconnected, make these input tests at the appropriate connector. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5. - Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box. - Remove the steering column covers (see «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__column-cover-removalinstallation) ).
- Disconnect the windshield wiper switch 8P connector (A) from the wiper/washer switch (B).
- Remove the two screws, then pull out the wiper/washer switch.
- Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position. (Scheme 23)
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

- Remove the wiper arms (see «WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) ). NOTE: Carefully remove the wiper arms so that they do not touch the hood.
- Remove the hood seal and cowl cover.
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the wiper motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the No. 3 terminal and ground to the No. 2 terminal of the wiper motor 5P connector. The motor should run at low speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor.
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the No. 5 terminal and ground to the No. 2 terminal of the wiper motor 5P connector. The motor should run at high speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor.
- Connect an analog ohmmeter to the No. 4 and No. 2 terminals, and run the motor at low or high speed. The needle of the ohmmeter should pulse. If it does not, replace the motor.

- Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TAILGATE LOWER TRIM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__tailgate-lower-trim-replacement) ).
- Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the No. 1 terminal and ground to the No. 3 terminal of the 4P connector. The motor should run. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor.
- Connect an analog ohmmeter to the No. 2 and No. 3 terminals, and run the motor at low or high speed. The needle of the ohmmeter should pulse.
- If the motor test is not as specified, replace the rear window wiper motor.

- Remove the right inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ).
- Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the washer motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the No. 2 (No. 1) terminal and ground the No. 1 (No. 2) terminal of the washer motor. The motor should run. ( ): Rear window washer direction. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace it. If the motor runs smoothly, but little or no washer fluid is pumped, check for a disconnected or blocked washer hose, or a clogged washer motor outlet.

- Remove the right inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ).
- Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the washer fluid level switch.
- Remove the washer fluid level switch from the washer reservoir. NOTE: Fluid may flow out of the opening.
- Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals in each float position. There should be continuity when the float is down. There should be no continuity when the float is up.
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

- Open the hood. Remove the caps, nuts (A), and the windshield wiper arms (B).
- Remove the cowl covers (see «A-PILLAR CORNER TRIM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__a-pillar-corner-trim-replacement) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the wiper motor.
- Remove the two bolts and the bracket (B).
- Remove the four bolts (C) and the wiper linkage assembly (D).
- Remove the nut (A) and the link (B) from the wiper motor (C).
- Remove the three bolts (D), and the wiper motor from the wiper linkage assembly (E).

- Before installing the motor, plug it in, then turn the wiper/washer switch to (LO) or (HI) ON, then OFF to return the motor shaft to the park position. NOTE: Does not use the wiper/washer switch (INT) position in this step. If necessary, replace any damaged clips. Apply multipurpose grease to the moving parts.
- Install the wiper motor to the wiper linkage assembly.
- Install the link to the wiper motor shaft, then align the mark (A) of the link and the mark (B) of the wiper linkage assembly.
- Before installing the wiper linkage assembly to the vehicle, align the mark (A) of the link and the mark (B) of the linkage assembly.
- After installation, adjust the wiper arms (see «WIPER ARM/NOZZLE ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) ).

- Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TAILGATE LOWER TRIM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__tailgate-lower-trim-replacement) ).
- Remove the mounting nut (A), the wiper arm (B) and the special nut (C).
- Disconnect the 4P connector (A) and remove the three mounting bolts (B), then remove the rear window wiper motor (C).
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the washer motor (B).
- Disconnect the windshield washer tube (C) and the rear window washer tube (D).
- Remove the clips and bolts, then remove the washer reservoir.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Lift the wiper arm from the windshield. NOTE: Lift the driver's side first.
- Press and hold the tab (A) and side the wiper blade (B) toward the tabs until it releases from the wiper arm (C).
- Pull the old rubber blade insert in the direction as shown, and remove it from the wiper blade.
- Install a new rubber blade insert in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the wiper blades onto the windshield wiper arm in the reverse order of removal.
- Test by turning on the wipers. If the blades slip, turn off the wipers and seat the attachments more firmly.

- Lift the wiper arm from the rear window.
- Turn the rear wiper blade (A), release the lock, and then remove the wiper blade from the rear wiper arm (B).
- Raise the old rubber blade insert (A), and remove it from the wiper blade (B).
- Install the new rubber blade insert and the wiper blade in the reverse order of removal.
Note. After installation, confirm that the wiper arm works smoothly.
Wiper arms park position
- When the wiper arms stop at the park position, confirm that they are at the standard position. Position at about 1.2 in. (31 mm) from the top of cowl cover (A) Position at about 1.4 in. (35 mm) from the top of cowl cover (A) Washer nozzle position
- When you turn on the washers, confirm 50% or more of the washer fluid lands within the spray area. If the spray area is not within the standard positions, adjust the nozzles.

Wiper arm park position
- When the wiper arm stops at the park position, confirm that it is at the standard position. Position at about 0.2 in. (6 mm) from the black ceramic area (A) Washer nozzle position
- When you turn on the washers, confirm 50% or more of the washer fluid lands within the spray area. If the spray area is not within the standard positions, adjust the nozzles.

- Remove the right inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ).
- Remove the washer nozzles and clips, then remove the tubes.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. Take care not to pinch the washer tubes. Check the washer operation.
