Control Unit Input Test

Note. Before testing the reminder system control unit, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control unit first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ). Before testing the reminder system control unit, troubleshoot the F-CAN system first, using gauge control module self-diagnosis function (see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).

Scheme 35
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and remove the left kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  2. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors E, H, P and Q. NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals.
  3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
  4. Reconnect the connectors, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5. CAVITY AND TEST CONDITION CHART Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained E9 BLK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.5 V. Poor ground (G601) An open in the wire H9 Q4 P1 BRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.5 V. Poor ground (G502) An open in the wire
  5. Disconnect gauge control module connectors A (12P) and B (24P). NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals.
  6. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 7.
  7. Reconnect the connectors, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to the appropriate input test. Key-in reminder, go to «KEY-IN REMINDER»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#reminder-systems__key-in-reminder) . Parking brake reminder, go to «PARKING BRAKE REMINDER»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#reminder-systems__parking-brake-reminder) . Lights-on reminder, do the combination switch control unit input test (see «WIPER/WASHER SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH CONTROL UNIT) INPUT TEST»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system__wiperwasher-switch-combination-switch-control-unit) ) and the combination light switch test (see «COMBINATION LIGHT SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exterior-lights/#exterior-lights) ). Seat belt reminder, do the seat belt buckle switch test. Key-in reminder

  1. Reconnect the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/body-electrical/#under-dash-fuserelay-box__removal-and-installation) ). Faulty ignition key switch An open in the wire Ignition switch to LOCK (0) and the ignition key removed from the ignition switch Measure the voltage to ground: There should be 5 V or more. Faulty ignition key switch A short to ground in the wire E15 GRN Driver's door open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 1 V. Faulty driver's door switch An open in the wire Driver's door closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be more than 5 V. Faulty driver's door switch A short to ground in the wire F14 ORN Under all conditions Attach to ground: The ignition key light should come on. Blown No. 4 (40 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box Blown No. 6 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box Faulty ignition key light An open in the wire

Parking Brake Reminder

Reconnect the gauge control module connectors, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and make these input tests at the connector.

  1. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
  2. If ail the input tests prove OK, replace the gauge control module (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#gauges__gauge-control-module-replacement) ).
