  1. Remove these items: Front bulkhead cover (see «FRONT BULKHEAD COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-bulkhead-cover-replacement) ) Front inner fender, left side as needed (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Driver's dashboard undercover (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) ) Kick panel, driver's side (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ).
  3. Remove the hood release handle (C) (see «HOOD RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ), and disconnect the hood opener cable.
  4. Using a clip remover, detach the clips, and remove the grommet (D) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  5. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal. NOTE: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.

  1. Remove the front bulkhead cover (see «FRONT BULKHEAD COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-bulkhead-cover-replacement) ).
  2. Disconnect the hood latch switch connector (A), then remove the connector clip from the body.
  3. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body.
  4. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch. Take care not to kink the cable.
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly and the hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly. Make sure the cable actuates the latch before you close the hood. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see step 4 on «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.

Scheme 14: Hood Release Handle Replacement
  1. Remove the driver's kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood release handle (A).
  3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood release handle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the hood opens properly.

Fuel Fill Door Latch Replacement

  1. Remove these items: Left rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-side-area) ) Left rear fender cover (see «REAR FENDER COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__rear-fender-cover-replacement) )
  2. From inside the vehicle, disconnect the actuator rod (A) from the fuel fill door latch (B).
  3. Remove the fuel door latch (A). Turn the latch 45° counterclockwise. First pull out the end of the latch from the grommet (B). Remove the latch from the fuel fill door adapter (C).
  4. If necessary, remove the grommet (A) by releasing the tabs (B) from inside the vehicle.
  5. Install the fuel door latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Install the grommet with the arrow mark on the grommet pointing up. Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.

Fuel Fill Door Actuator Replacement

  1. Remove the left rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-side-area) ).
  2. Disconnect the actuator rod (A) and the actuator connector (B).
  3. Loosen the bolts, then remove the actuator (A) and the bracket (B) together by sliding it upward.
  4. Install the fuel door actuator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the actuator connector is plugged in properly, and the rod is connected securely. Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.

Scheme 20: Without Power Tailgate
  1. Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  2. If the tailgate latch can't be unlocked by using the keyless entry transmitter or the inside/outside tailgate switches, or by unlocking the driver's door lock, remove the maintenance lid (A) from the tailgate lower trim panel, then turn the emergency lever (B) clockwise as shown.

  1. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-tailgate-area) ).
  2. Disconnect the tailgate latch switch connector (A) and tailgate actuator connector (B).
  3. Remove the bolts.
  4. Pull the tailgate latch (A) out, then remove it.
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly. Make sure the tailgate opens properly and looks securely. .

  1. Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  2. If the tailgate latch can't be unlocked by using the keyless entry transmitter or the inside/outside tailgate switches, remove the maintenance lid (A) from the tailgate lower trim panel, then turn the emergency lever (B) clockwise as shown.

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (See «DISCONNECTION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/body-electrical/#battery__disconnection) NOTE: If you remove the tailgate latch while the negative battery cable is still connected, the vehicle goes into the failsafe mode.
  2. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-tailgate-area) ).
  3. Disconnect the tailgate latch connector (A) and actuator connector (B).
  4. Remove the bolts (C, D).
  5. Pull the tailgate latch (E) out, then remove it.
  6. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (See «RECONNECTION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/body-electrical/#battery__reconnection) Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them. Make sure the tailgate opens properly and locks securely.
