  1. Remove the driver's door switch trim (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/windows/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the TOP connector (A) from the power mirror switch (B), and inspect the terminals. If OK, go to step 3.
  3. Choose the appropriate test based on the symptom: Both mirrors don't work, go to step 4. Left mirror doesn't work, go to «LEFT MIRROR»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#power-mirrors__left-mirror) . Right mirror doesn't work, go to «RIGHT MIRROR»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#power-mirrors__right-mirror) . Defoggers don't work, go to «DEFOGGER»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#power-mirrors__defogger) .

Both Mirrors

  1. Reconnect the power mirror switch connector, and check for voltage between the No. 1 terminal and body ground with the ignition switch ON (II) while operating the power mirror switch. There should be battery voltage. If there is no battery voltage, check for: - blown No. 4 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. - an open in the ORN wire. If there is battery voltage, go to step 5.
  2. Check for voltage between the No. 2 terminal and body ground while operating the power mirror switch. There should be less than 1 V. If there is more than 1 V, check for: - an open in the BLK wire. - poor ground (G601). If there is less than 1 V, check both mirrors individually as described in «LEFT MIRROR»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#power-mirrors__left-mirror) and «RIGHT MIRROR»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#power-mirrors__right-mirror) .

Left Mirror

  1. Connect the No. 1 terminal to the No. 7 terminal, and the No. 4 (or No. 9) terminal to body ground with jumper wires. The left mirror should tilt down (or swing left) with the ignition switch ON (II). If the mirror does not tilt down (or does not swing left), check for an open in the BLU/WHT (or BLU/ ORN) wire between the left mirror and the 10P connector. If the wire is OK, check the left mirror actuator. If the mirror neither tilts down nor swings left, check for an open in the BLU/GRN wire. If the mirror works properly, check the mirror switch.

Right Mirror

  1. Connect the No. 1 terminal to the No. 8 terminal, and the No. 4 (or No. 10) terminal to body ground with jumper wires. The right mirror should tilt down (or swing left) with the ignition switch ON (II). If the mirror does not tilt down (or does not swing left), check for an open in the BLU/WHT (or LT GRN) wire between the right mirror and the 10P connector. If the wire is OK, check the right mirror actuator. If the mirror neither tilts down nor swings left, check for an open in the YEL/WHT wire. If the mirror works properly, check the mirror switch.

Defogger

  1. Connect the No. 3 and No. 6 terminals with a jumper wire, and check for voltage between the No. 3 terminal and body ground. There should be battery voltage and both mirrors should warm up with the ignition switch ON (II). If there is no voltage or neither warms up, check for: - an open in the ORN and ORN/WHT wires. - blown No. 4 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. - poor ground (G601, G651). If only one fails to warm up, check its defogger. If both warm up, check the defogger switch.

Scheme 19
  1. Remove the driver's door switch trim (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/windows/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 10P connector from the power mirror switch.
  3. Remove the three screws and the power mirror switch.
  4. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to (Scheme 18) and (Scheme 19).
  5. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

Scheme 21

Scheme 21
  1. Remove the door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/windows/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 12P connector (A) from the power mirror actuator (B).
  3. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to (Scheme 21).
  4. If the mirror fails to work properly, replace the mirror actuator.

Defogger Test

  1. Check for continuity between the No. 6 and No. 7 terminals of the 12P connector. There should be continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the mirror holder (see «MIRROR HOLDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#mirrors) ).

Scheme 23

Scheme 23
  1. Remove the door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/windows/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 8P connector (A) from the power mirror actuator (B).
  3. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to (Scheme 23).
  4. If the mirror fails to work properly, replace the mirror actuator.
  1. Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 4 terminals of the 8P connector. There should be continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the mirror holder (see «MIRROR HOLDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#mirrors) ).

  1. Remove the power mirror (see «POWER MIRROR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#mirrors) ).
  2. Disconnect the connector(s).
  3. Record the terminal locations and wire colors.
  4. Remove the wire harness clip (A) from the harness, then cut the harness with wire cutters.
  5. Slide the mirror holder (A) up and remove it.
  6. Remove the four screws, then remove the actuator (A).
  7. Route the wire harness (A) of the new actuator through the hole in the bracket (B).
  8. Insert the terminals into the connector.
  9. Insert the terminals of tweeter side into the new tweeter 2P connector.
  10. Reattach the wire harness clip to the harness with tape in its original position.
  11. Seal the intersection of wire harness with tape.
  12. Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly. Be careful not to break the mirror holder when reinstalling it to the actuator.
  13. Reinstall the mirror assembly to the door.
  14. Operate the power mirror to ensure smooth operation.
