PREPARATORY WORK

Ignition key in position 0.

Note. Seal connections to inlet and outlet on the steering gear immediately after removing.

Scheme 25

Lift up the car and remove the front wheel on the left side.

Remove

1. protective cover under engine (applies to some versions)
2. protection over the drive axle for better access (applies to some versions)

Scheme 26

Place a container under the steering gear to collect the oil.

Note. Clean very carefully around the solenoid before removing is started.

Remove

1. the connector
2. the screws, 2 pcs., for the solenoid
3. the solenoid.

Scheme 27

Note. Check carefully that there are no impurities.

Change the filter in the steering gear to the new one included in the kit.

Scheme 28

Lube the solenoid's seals with some oil.

Note. Only use Volvo power steering fluid, part number 30741424 (1 liter).

Scheme 29

Install the solenoid with the new screws, 2 pcs., included in the kit and tighten alternately to contact.

Tighten in the following order

Step 1. (1) 0.5 Nm

Step 2. (2) 1.5 Nm

Step 3. (1) 2.9 Nm

Step 4. (2) 2.9 Nm

Plug in the connector for the solenoid.
