Scheme 1: Removal & Installation
  1. Remove air duct to air cleaner housing. Remove 4 screws holding the fan shroud and relay bracket.
  2. Remove relay bracket and disconnect engine cooling fan connector from relay. Remove cover from throttle pulley.
  3. On turbocharged engines, disconnect charge air hose from charge air cooler. On all engines, remove cable from 2 clips on cover. Disconnect vacuum hoses from cover. Remove vacuum valve from cover. Disassemble engine cooling fan connector. Remove engine cooling fan with shroud. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  1. Remove expansion tank cap. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front splash cover under radiator.
  2. Open drain valve on radiator and drain coolant.
  3. Remove engine cooling fan. (Scheme 1)
  4. Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses from radiator. For turbocharged engines, separate oil cooler hoses from right side of oil cooler. For vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, separate oil cooler hoses from left side of oil cooler.
  5. For vehicles equipped with A/C, remove upper bolts holding condenser to radiator. Hang radiator using string or similar. (Scheme 2) Remove two lower bolts holding condenser to radiator after radiator is tied. (Scheme 3)
  6. On all models, remove bolts holding radiator. (Scheme 4) Remove radiator.
  7. Install in reverse order. Tighten radiator mounting bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-159919-S29262612652004011500000).

Scheme 4
  1. Remove expansion tank cap. Open drain valves on left side of radiator and drain approximately half a gallon (2 liters) of coolant from radiator.
  2. Remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing. (Scheme 5)
  3. Remove thermostat and gasket. Clean housing and block mating surfaces.
  4. Place new thermostat with new seal into housing. Tighten housing bolts.
  5. Fill and bleed cooling system. See «COOLING SYSTEM»(ref-159919-S08716314052004011500000) under BLEEDING.
