REPLACING A COMPONENT
The headlamp control module (HCM) has registered an internal fault.
If the fault is intermittent, it has been registered previously but is no longer present. Intermittent faults can be caused by interference upon start of the headlamp control module (HCM) or may be a different type of fault that occurs on different occasions. The fault is evaluated depending on how it occurs. If the problem recurs, replace the headlamp control module (HCM).
In the event of a permanent fault, replace the headlamp control module (HCM).
Remedy as necessary.

FAULTY SOFTWARE
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the software has an incorrect version number.
Download the latest software to Headlamp Control Module (HCM).
If the problem remains after software download, try with replacing the Headlamp Control Module (HCM).

FAULTY CONFIGURATION
Incorrect vehicle configuration (the control module is not intended for this vehicle, for example, it is a second-hand control module with different software/hardware).
Ensure that the control module has been correctly installed.

Use the following information and general checks during fault-tracing.
Note. Check that the fuses are intact. For locations, see cover for fuse box, fuse ratings or similar.
- Check, if possible, relevant functions in the vehicle using buttons/controls/test drives to determine the status of the fault. NOTE: If the vehicle does not show any of the given symptoms in the diagnostic trouble code information (DTC), this may mean that the fault is intermittent or that the control module is not detecting the fault at this moment.
- Use the diagnostic trouble code's frozen values , status identifiers and counter to determine the operating conditions when the fault was detected, the fault's current status and any degree of intermittence of the fault.
- Check and fault-trace according to the fault causes that are specified in the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information .
- Use VIDA Vehicle communication . Read off the parameters, activate components and functions, carry out quick tests and checking routines for the diagnostic trouble codes to identify the fault.
- Check relevant components according to Component specifications .
- Check relevant signals using wiring diagram , signal specification and breakout box .
Note. More information is available in Design and function .
Remedy as necessary.
