Draining The Fuel Line
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release .

Remove
- the brake vacuum hose from the intake manifold.
- the charge air pipe from the throttle body (electronic throttle module).
- the dipstick tube from the intake manifold.
- the pipe screw for the crankcase ventilation connection at the intake manifold.
- the vacuum hose from the charge air bypass valve
- the rear screw in the lower row from the connection between the intake manifold and the cylinder head; remove the bracket.
- the protective cover over the nozzle connectors.
- the fuel rail mounting screws.
Spray universal oil or similar around the injector connectors on the intake manifold.
Gently work the fuel rail and injectors loose.
Separate the fuel line quick-release connector under the intake manifold. Use tool 9512666 .
Carefully put the fuel rail to one side.
Remove the EVAP valve hose from the intake manifold

Remove
- the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing and the trigger wheel.
- the pipe screw for the water-heated crankcase ventilation.
- the clamps for ignition coil wiring and the positive cable.
- the cover at the rear of the intake camshaft.

Remove from turbo 1
- the ground strips between the engine and the firewall.
- intake and charge air pipes, plug the openings.
- the heat deflector plate.
- the pipe screw for the oil pressure pipe.
- the oil pressure pipe.
- the pipe screws for the coolant pipes. NOTE: Place a container for the coolant underneath.
- the upper coolant pipe with hose.

Remove from turbo 2
- the heat deflector plate.
- the ground strips between the engine and the firewall.
- the upper screw of the automatic transmission dipstick tube. Loosen the lower.
- the torque arm bracket.
- intake and charge air pipes, plug the openings.
- the hose from the pressure regulator.
- the clamp between the coolant pump inlet pipe and the turbocharger oil pressure pipe.

Raise the car and remove
- the oil return line of turbo 1. Plug the opening in the engine block.
- the hose from the pressure regulator.
Scheme 90
Lower the car and remove
- the pipe screws of the coolant pipes at turbo 2. Put the lower pipe to one side.
- the upper coolant pipe and hose to turbo 2.
- the air control pipe of the pressure regulator.
- the nuts and washers of the manifold mounting at cylinders 1, 2 and 3. Lift away the manifold/turbocharger.
Scheme 91
Remove from turbo 2
- the screws of the oil return line. Turn the pipe to the side.
- the pipe screw of the oil pressure pipe.
- the nuts and washers at the manifold mounting to the cylinder head, cylinders 4, 5 and 6.
Lift off and carefully turn the turbocharger/manifold so the oil pressure pipe is released.
Note. Exercise extreme care so that the oil pressure pipe is not deformed.
Lift up and remove the turbocharger/manifold.
Draining Coolant
Open the engine nipple.
Drain the coolant into a container.
Close the nipple.
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release .
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release .
Scheme 92
Remove the mounting screws from the fuel rail.
Spray universal oil or similar around the injector connectors on the intake manifold.
Gently work the fuel rail and injectors loose.

Remove
- the EVAP hose from the intake manifold
- the crankcase ventilation vacuum hose.

Remove
- the heat deflector plate above the manifold
- the nuts and washers holding the manifold to the cylinder head
- the manifold and gaskets.
Raise the car. Remove the splash guard from under the engine.
Open the engine nipple.
Drain the coolant into a container.
Close the nipple.
Scheme 94
Remove
- lower engine cover.
- the nuts at the manifold/front exhaust system branching.
- the screws of the front SIPS member.
Undo the brake pipe from the clips on the SIPS member.
Release the exhaust system from the manifold.
Let the exhaust system rest on the rear SIPS members.
Remove the gaskets.
Undo the connectors of the heated oxygen sensors.
Open the engine nipple.
Drain the coolant into a container.
Close the nipple.
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release .
Raise the car. Remove the splash guard from under the engine.
Open the engine nipple.
Drain the coolant into a container.
Close the nipple.
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release .
Cleaning And Lubricating The Input Shaft
The input shaft must be lubricated before a transmission is installed. See Input shaft, cleaning .

| CAUTION | Check that the gearbox and engine mating surfaces are absolutely clean. |
If the new transmission is not fitted with a reverse lamp switch, move over the reverse lamp switch from the old one.
Also check that the guide sleeves towards the engine are in position and are free of faults.
Lubricate the holes in the transmission (for the guide pins). Use a little grease.
Scheme 96
Adjust height and angle with the mobile jack and the transmission fixture.
Locate the transmission on the engine.
Ensure that the transmission goes straight in, in relation to the engine, and that no deviation occurs in the clutch driven plate center.
Scheme 97
Install all 7 screws securing the transmission to the engine.
First tighten alternately and crosswise to light contact.
At the same time, check that the whole of the transmission is in contact with the engine.
Then tighten the M10 transmission / engine screws crosswise.
Remove the fixture from the transmission.
Lower the vehicle
Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release . See also: Fuel system, quick-release connectors .
Remove the cover from the expansion tank.
Draining The Engine Oil
Remove
- the lower engine cover
- the front air baffle.
Drain the engine oil. Remove the oil filter.

Remove
- the front wheel
- the nuts for the lower ball joints
- the anti-roll bar links from the anti-roll bar
- the center screw for the right-hand drive shaft
- the screw and nuts for the steering gear
- the screw for the front engine mounting
- the torque rod including the mounting in the sub-frame.
Scheme 99
Tension the trailing arms together to release the spindles. Use a retaining strap.
Unhook the right drive shaft from the wheel spindle. Tension the spring strut backwards. Use a retaining strap.
