Removal & Installation (Front Knock Sensor)

1. Remove air filter cover. Remove Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) and fresh air hose. (Scheme 4)
2. Remove connector from knock sensor and then remove knock sensor. (Scheme 5)
3. For installation, fit knock sensor and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-160825-S26694202802004030200000). Knock sensor should be tightened in 5 o'clock position.
4. Install connector on knock sensor. Install fresh air hose, MAF and air filter cover.

Removal & Installation (Rear Knock Sensor)

Remove starter motor and oil dipstick pipe. Remove connector from knock sensor and then remove knock sensor from side of engine block. (Scheme 5) For installation, fit knock sensor and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Knock sensor should be tightened in 9 o'clock position. Install starter motor and oil dipstick pipe.

Mass air flow sensor is located on side of air cleaner housing. (Scheme 6)

Removal (Located On Fuel Rail)

1. Turn ignition off. Fuel pump should also be turned off.
2. Loosen the cruise control vacuum reservoir from its mounting.
3. Remove injector covers. Loosen connection from the injector valve, by turning valve 90°. see scheme 29
4. Fit Clamp (999 5471) over injector valves which are not being changed.
5. To change pressure regulator, remove fuel rail retaining screws. Lift off complete fuel rail with injector valves. (Scheme 7) Protect all damping rubbers in intake manifold. Place paper under pressure regulator to soak any fuel spillage.
6. Loosen vacuum hose and return lead from pressure regulator. Change pressure regulator.
7. Grease new pressure regulator "O" rings with petroleum jelly before fitting.

Installation (Located On Fuel Rail)

1. Replace vacuum lead and return lead.
2. Replace all damping rubbers in fuel rail.
3. Grease all injector valve "O" rings with petroleum jelly. Fit fuel rail to intake manifold.
4. Fit screws and tighten. Remove clamp holding injector valve and turn to correct position.
5. Fit connections to injector valve. Fit injector valve covers.

Removal & Installation (Located On Intake Manifold)

1. Turn ignition off. Drain fuel system. See «DRAINING FUEL TANK»(ref-160825-S15515160782004030200000).
2. Place paper under pressure regulator to soak up any fuel spillage when pressure regulator is loosened.
3. Remove fuel hoses and vacuum hose from pressure regulator. (Scheme 8) Change pressure regulator.
4. Connect fuel leads and vacuum hose to pressure regulator.
5. To install, reverse removal procedures.
