Checking Oxygen Sensor Wires Volkswagen Passat B5 facelift

Checking Oxygen Sensor Wires

  1. Connect test box to control module wiring harness. Refer to «Test box, connecting for wiring test»(ref-255339-S34843680502007053000000) .
  1. Disconnect 6-pin harness connector to respective oxygen sensor
  1. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39-, 6-pin harness connector (black) -1
  2. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 -G108-, 6-pin harness connector (brown) -2-.

Note. Bank 1 = Cylinder bank 1, in direction of travel, right Bank 2 = Cylinder bank 2, in direction of travel, left

  1. Check wires between test box and 6-pin connector to Engine Control Module (ECM) for open circuit according to wiring diagram.

Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms

  1. Also check wires for short circuit to B+ and Ground (GND).

Specified value: infinity ohms

If no malfunctions are found in wires

  1. Replace respective oxygen sensor
  1. Bank 1 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39-. Refer to «Exhaust manifold/ catalytic converter module with front exhaust pipe and attachments»(ref-255339-S19797556052007053000000) , item 3
  2. Bank 2 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 -G108-. Refer to «Exhaust manifold/ catalytic converter module with front exhaust pipe and attachments»(ref-255339-S19797556052007053000000) , item 9
  1. Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to «Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data»(ref-255339-S26400046962007053000000)
  2. Generate readiness code. Refer to «Readiness code, generating»(ref-255339-S37690993602007053000000)
