BASIC SETTING FOR NEWLY INSTALLED CSC ROOF

Note. The procedure for adjusting individual buffers can be derived from this procedure. The other buffers described are to be ignored when adjusting a single buffer. The basic setting should be performed in the sequence described. Always perform work evenly on left and right. The following describes only one side. Check whether a bolted stop buffer is installed. If an inserted stop buffer -1- is installed, replaced this with a bolted stop buffer.

Open roof with convertible top operating switch until rear window frame is stored and rear lid with rear shelf tips up.

Switch off ignition.

Adjust -dimension a- from 5.5 mm between stop buffer -1- and the glass panel -2-. To do this, loosen lock nut -4- on stop screw -3- and adjust stop screw until -dimension a- has reached 5.5 mm. Re-tighten lock nut.

Slide C-Segment Pretensioning Clamps VAS 6369 -5- onto glass panel -2- and rear window frame -6-.

Note. Construct the stop buffer adjustment caps -4- with two stop buffer cover caps. To do this, cut a 20 mm hole in center of cover caps.

Remove locating lug cover cap -5-.

Loosen the bolts -6- but do not remove them, loosen the guide wedge and pull the wedge out as far as possible.

The guide wedges -5- adjust themselves during the following basic setting procedure.

Remove covers from storage buffers -4- and press adjusting caps on.

Loosen storage buffer screws -3-.

Loosen lock nuts -1- on adjusting screws -2- on main hinge and install adjusting screw in 2 - 3 turns.

Loosen screws -1- on stop buffer -2- on rear shelf and remove buffer completely.

The stop buffers -2- adjust themselves during the following basic setting procedure.

Open -arrow- stop covers -6- on side rails -7- on assembly frame.

Remove cover caps -3- for stop buffer -4- on installation frame.

Open roof farther with convertible top operating switch until roof is stored in luggage compartment. Rear lid with rear shelf remains tipped up.

Switch off ignition.

Turn stop buffer -2- as far as "stop" on roof center section -1-.

Check whether mount on main hinge -5- is aligned with storage buffer with adjusting cap -3-.

Tighten storage buffer screw -4-. Tightening specification: 20 Nm.

Operate convertible top operating switch until the top closing procedure is complete.

Open tailgate.

Lay one paper strip -4- each with necessary lengths between stop buffer -1-, rear shelf -2- and rear window -3-.

Lay an additional paper strip -4- each with necessary length between stop buffer -6- on rear window frame -5- and glass panel -7-.

Close tailgate.

Open tailgate.

Check if side guide -1- on installation frame rests on locking bracket -2- -arrow-.

Check if stop buffer -4- on installation frame -3- contacts rear window frame striker pin -5-. Adjust stop buffer if necessary.

Remove paper strips between stop buffers on rear shelf and rear window. Paper strips may be removed only with difficulty.

Remove paper strips between stop buffers on rear window frame and glass panel. Paper strips may be removed only with difficulty.

Close roof with convertible top operating switch until roof pillars rest on windshield frame. Rear window frame remains resting on roof center section and rear lid with rear shelf remains tipped up.

Remove the pretensioning clamps for rear window frame VAS 6369 between the glass panel and the rear window frame.

Close -arrow c- covers -6- for side guides -7- on assembly frame.

Press -arrow b- cover cap -5- on stop buffer -4- onto assembly frame -3-.

Pull stop buffer -2- on rear shelf out 2 stops -arrow a- and tighten screw -1-.

Remove adjustment cap from stop buffer -3- and press -arrow a- cap onto stop buffer -3-.

Remove the stop buffer -2- 2 turns and tighten lock nut -1-.

Tighten the screws -6- and install the caps -5-.

Close roof completely.
