CONDENSATION WATER DRAIN HOSE, CHECKING
Remove the footwell trim on the front passenger side. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Scheme 42
Note. The condensation water hose -1- must be able to be connected to connection of heating and A/C unit without pre-tension. Condensation water hose must sit securely on connection for condensation water hose on heating and A/C unit.
FLUID CONTAINER WITH DRYER AND SCREEN, MODINE
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- A/C Service station ROB 134APF
- Rinsing Device For Refrigerant Circuits VAS6337/1
Note. Refrigerant must be extracted before hand using ROB 134APF. The previously used service stations can still be used. To prevent the entry of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.
Removal
Move the lock carrier into the service position. Refer to Description and Operation .
Remove the Safety Warning label on the cap.
Remove the cap -1- with a 50 TORX® socket.
Scheme 43
| WARNING | There is a danger of ice-up. Refrigerant and refrigerant oil will leak out if the refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated. Refrigerant must be extracted before opening the refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after extracting it, pressure may build up in the circuit again. Extract refrigerant once more. |
Push the cover -1- down slightly and remove the circlip -arrow-.
Scheme 44
Install the M12 bolt into the cover and carefully pull it out of the fluid container -2-.
Remove the dryer bag using a commercially available pick-up tool -in direction of arrow- from the fluid container.
Scheme 45
Make a 2 mm welding wire with the following dimensions
Scheme 46
a - 380 mm
b - maximum 7 mm
c - maximum 6 mm
Hook the welding wire to the strainer exactly as illustrated to prevent damaging the fluid container.
Scheme 47
Carefully remove the filter (strainer) -2- from the fluid container with the welding wire -1-.
Installation
Install the new strainer in the fluid container.
Insert the dryer bag into the fluid container.
Perform remaining installation operations in reverse order of removal.
FLUID RESERVOIR WITH DRYER CARTRIDGE
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- A/C Service Station ROB 134APF
- Rinsing Device For Refrigerant Circuits VAS6337/1
- Workshop Crane VAS 6100
- Engine Sling 2024 A
Removal
Extract refrigerant using ROB 134APF, only then open the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT COMPONENTS .
Move the lock carrier into the service position. Refer to Description and Operation .
Scheme 48
Unscrew mounting bolts for cooler -arrows-.
Hang cooler on VAS 6100 and 2024 A using workshop equipment (cable ties or welding wire) and unhook from lock carrier, coolant hoses and refrigerant lines remain connected.
Scheme 49
Unscrew mounting bolt -2- and remove retaining clip.
| WARNING | There is a danger of ice-up. Refrigerant leaks out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged. Refrigerant must be extracted before opening the refrigerant circuit. If refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes of extraction, pressure may form in refrigerant circuit due to evaporation. Extract refrigerant once more. |
Unscrew bolts -1- and pull fluid reservoir with dryer cartridge upward and out.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal.
Replace the O-rings.
Note. First tighten the bolts -1- to 4.2 ± 0.7 Nm and then the bolt -2-. When installing cooler, ensure that sealing strips are seated correctly on cooler.
