PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) Disconnect the D43 connector from the power management control ECU. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK) Disconnect the 2G connector from the main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly). Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   5. INSPECT IG1 RELAY Remove the IG1 relay from the main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly). Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Always 93.8 to 136.4 ohms 3 - 5 When battery voltage is not applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms NG --> REPLACE IG1 RELAY OK: Go to next step
  6. INSPECT MAIN BODY ECU (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) Remove the main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly). Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - IG2 RELAY) Disconnect the D42 connector from the power management control ECU. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room relay block. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   6. INSPECT MAIN BODY ECU (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) Remove the main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly). Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649425-S23683780292014081400000) . Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   8. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649425-S03792631602014081400000)
  1. CHECK FOR DTC Clear the DTC. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649434-S23397042982014081400000) . Turn the engine switch on (IG). After 330 seconds have elapsed, check if the DTC has been set again. OK DTC B2277 is not output. HINT: If there are any signs that water was present, before replacing the power source control ECU, take measures to prevent any further water entry. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 3

  3. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649249-S26594225002014081400000)
  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Check if CAN communication DTCs are output. HINT: If any DTCs for CAN communication system malfunction are output, inspect those DTCs first. OK CAN communication DTC is not output. NG --> GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK SPEEDOMETER OPERATION Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the vehicle speed signal. COMBINATION METER Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed/Min.: 0, Max.: 255 Almost same as actual speed (When driving) - OK Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester (calibrated chassis dynamometer). NG --> See step 10 OK: Go to next step
  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   7. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Remove the combination meter. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649435-S13546575122014081400000) . Reconnect the E1 connector to the combination meter assembly. Reconnect the D43 connector to the power management control ECU. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal E1-16 (+S) and body ground. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the wheel slowly. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. Item Condition Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV. Vehicle condition Driving at approx. 20 km/h (12 mph) OK The waveform is displayed as shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Component with harness connected (Combination Meter Assembly) HINT: When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses.   1. CHECK LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ]»(ref-649507-S35579365742014081400000) . Check if DTC B2287 is output. OK DTC B2287 is not output. NG --> See step 7 OK: Go to next step

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - STEERING LOCK ECU) Disconnect the D43 connector from the power management control ECU. Disconnect the D17 connector from the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU). Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
