DESCRIPTION

When a USB device or "iPod" is connected to the USB jack of the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly, it must have playable files. The device must also communicate with and be recognized by the radio receiver assembly. This diagnosis procedure is for when a device is not recognized, or files from the device cannot be played normally.

This circuit sends an operation signal from the steering pad switch assembly to the radio receiver assembly.

If there is an open in the circuit, the audio system cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly.

If there is a short in the circuit, the same condition as when the switch is continuously depressed occurs.

Therefore, the radio receiver assembly cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly, and the radio receiver assembly itself cannot function.

  1. CHECK SPEAKER Check the malfunctioning speakers. RESULT Result Proceed to Malfunction in front speaker area A Malfunction in rear speaker area B B --> See step 7 A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK FRONT SIDE SPEAKER Check the malfunctioning speakers. RESULT Result Proceed to Front No. 2 speaker assembly A Front No. 1 speaker assembly B B --> See step 5 A: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Temporarily replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-493566-S14598569752012081000000) . Check that the malfunction disappears. HINT: Connect all the speaker connectors to the speakers. When there is a possibility that either the right or left speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one. RESULT Result Proceed to Malfunction disappears A Malfunction does not disappear B B --> See step 4 A --> END (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE)
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY- FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the E47 radio receiver assembly connector. Disconnect the G8*1 and/or H7*2 front No. 2 speaker assembly connector. *1: for RH Side *2: for LH Side Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Disconnect the G1*1 and/or H1*2 front No. 1 speaker assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the E48 radio receiver assembly connector. Disconnect the I2*1 and/or J2*2 rear speaker assembly connector. *1: for RH Side *2: for LH Side Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. The No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly sends an external device sound signal to the radio receiver assembly through this circuit.

The sound signal that has been sent is amplified by the radio receiver assembly, and then is sent to the speakers.

If there is an open or short in the circuit, sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the radio receiver assembly or speakers.

Scheme 16: WIRING DIAGRAM

This circuit is necessary for the ASL (Auto Sound Levelizer) built into the radio receiver assembly. Speed signals are received from the combination meter and used for the ASL.

The ASL function automatically adjusts the sound data in order to enable the listener to hear the sound of the audio system clearly even when vehicle noise increases (as vehicle noise increases, the volume is turned up, etc.).

HINT

  1. A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from each ECU and then input to the combination meter. The signal is changed to a pulse signal at the transistor in the combination meter. Each ECU controls its respective system based on the pulse signal.
  2. If a short occurs in any of the ECUs or in the wire harness connected to an ECU, both systems in the diagram below will not operate normally.

Microphone signal from the telephone microphone assembly is sent to the radio receiver assembly. Also, power is supplied from the radio receiver assembly to the telephone microphone assembly.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the E109 radio receiver assembly connector. Disconnect the P5 map light assembly connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E109-4 (MACC) - P5-12 (ACC) Always Below 1 ohms E109-5 (MIN+) - P5-11 (MI1+) E109-19 (MIN-) - P5-10 (MIC-) E109-6 (SNS2) - Body ground E109-4 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher E109-5 (MIN+) - Body ground E109-19 (MIN-) - Body ground E109-18 (SGND) - Body ground NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   3. REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE WITH ANOTHER AND CHECK Replace the telephone microphone with a normal one. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-493566-S26027516542012081000000) . Check if the same problem occurs again. OK Malfunction disappears. NG --> See step 4 OK --> END (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE)
  4. REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-493566-S26027516542012081000000)
  5. REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-493566-S37822035692012081000000)

This circuit provides power to the radio receiver assembly.
