HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2013 - ]

HINT

  1. Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the power window control system.
  2. *: Use the Techstream.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS HINT: In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred. Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases. The following 5 items are important points for problem analysis: What Vehicle model, system name When Date, time, occurrence frequency Where Road conditions Under what conditions? Driving conditions, weather conditions How did it happen? Problem symptoms NEXT: Go to next step
  3. PRE-CHECK Measure the auxiliary battery voltage with the ignition switch off. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step. Check the fuses and relays. Check the connector connections and terminals to make sure that there are no abnormalities such as loose connections, deformation, etc. NEXT: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* Use the Techstream to check if the LIN communication system is functioning normally. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ]»(ref-651382-S26694655632014081900000) . Result Result Proceed to No DTCs output A DTCs output B B --> GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.   8. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE Check if driver door window regulator, power window regulator motor assembly LH (for driver door), door glass or door glass run has been removed and reinstalled. Result Result Proceed to Driver door window regulator, power window regulator motor assembly LH (for driver door), door glass or door glass run has been removed and reinstalled. A None of the driver door window regulator, power window regulator motor assembly LH (for driver door), door glass or door glass run has been removed and reinstalled.   9. INITIALIZE POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM If the driver door window regulator or power window regulator motor assembly LH (for driver door) have been removed and reinstalled, perform "Initialize Power Window Control System" (initialization of the pulse sensor) for the driver door glass. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [12/2013 - ]»(ref-651192-S32286614642014081900000) . HINT: If "Initialize Power Window Control System" (initialization of the pulse sensor) has not been performed, the auto operation function, jam protection function and key-off operation function will not operate or will operate incorrectly. NEXT: Go to next step

  1. CHECK WINDOW LOCK SWITCH HINT: Before performing the window lock switch operation check, make sure that the window lock switch is off (the switch is not pushed in). Check that the front passenger and rear windows* cannot be operated when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch assembly is pushed in. OK Front passenger and rear windows* are disabled. *: w/ Rear Power Window Check that the front passenger and rear windows* can be operated when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch assembly is pushed in again. OK Front passenger and rear windows* operate normally. *: w/ Rear Power Window

  5. CHECK POWER WINDOW OPERATION FUNCTION AFTER IGNITION SWITCH IS TURNED OFF Check that all the power windows can be operated with the power widow regulator master switch assembly and power window regulator switch assemblies (for front passenger door, rear LH and RH doors*) after the ignition switch is turned off. HINT: If the window lock switch is on, the power windows cannot be operated besides the driver door power window. Therefore, turn the window lock switch off before checking the window operation. *: w/ Rear Power Window Check that the key-off operation function does not operate after the driver door or front passenger door is opened immediately. HINT: If the driver door or front passenger door is opened during automatic window operation while the key-off operation function is on, the window will stop operating. Check that all the power windows cannot be operated after more than approximately 43 seconds have elapsed since the ignition switch was turned off.
  6. CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION Check the basic function. WARNING: Do not put your fingers between the door frame and door glass to check the jam protection function. Also, prevent any part of your body from being caught during inspection. HINT: The jam protection function operates during both the auto up and manual up operations while the hybrid control system is started or the ignition switch is ON (IG), and also 43 seconds have elapsed after the ignition switch was turned off. Fully open the driver door window. Set a check jig wrapped with a piece of cloth near the window fully closed position. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Check Jig *b Cloth Operate the auto up or manual up function to check that the power window stops and goes down after the check jig is caught between the window and door frame, and stops when the opening reaches approximately 200 mm (7.87 in.) or until approximately 5 seconds elapse. HINT: If the check jig is caught when the opening is approximately 75 mm (2.95 in.) or more, the power window goes down for approximately 125 mm (4.93 in.) or until approximately 2.5 seconds elapse. While the power window is moving down, check that the door glass cannot be raised when the power window switch is used.
  7. CHECK POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH LED ILLUMINATION Check the LED illumination (power window regulator master switch assembly). Check that the LED located on the power window regulator master switch assembly illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to ON (IG).

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2013 - ]

  1. DESCRIPTION The power window control system data can be read from the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform repairs.
  2. CHECK DLC3 Check the DLC3. Refer to «GENERAL INFORMATION [12/2013 - ]»(ref-651169-S36066967812014081900000) .
  3. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE Measure the auxiliary battery voltage with the ignition switch off. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery.

DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ]

  1. CHECK DTC Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / D-Door Motor / Trouble Codes. HINT: If the pulse sensor built into the power window regulator motor malfunctions, the power window control system enters fail-safe mode.
