SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [08/2013 - ]

1. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the low beam headlights, parking lights, side marker lights, taillights and license plate lights.
2. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (low beam headlights, high beam headlights, front fog lights, side marker lights, taillights, parking lights and license plate lights). This system has the following functions. Function Outline Delay Function The exterior lights automatically turn off after 30 seconds when all of the following conditions are met: The ignition switch is turned from ON to off. The low beam headlights are on. All doors are closed after any of the doors are opened. Door Control Transmitter-linked Function The exterior lights turn off immediately when the delay function is active and the following condition is met: The lock button on the key is pushed after all doors are locked. Door Open-linked The exterior lights automatically turn off immediately when all of the following conditions are met: The ignition switch is turned from ON to off. The taillights are on. (The low beam headlights are off.) The driver door is opened.
3. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights (low-intensity low beam headlights) during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles. This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). There are 2 LED type light circuits in each headlight. One is for a conventional high-intensity low beam headlight that is used as the low beam headlights, and the other is for the low-intensity low beam headlight that is used for the DRL system. This system is enabled when the following conditions are met (Headlight dimmer switch without AUTO position): Ignition switch is ON. Engine speed signal is input (engine running). Light control switch is in the tail or DRL position. Parking brake switch is off. This system is enabled when the following conditions are met (Headlight dimmer switch with AUTO position): Ignition switch is ON. Engine speed signal is input (engine running). Light control switch is in the tail or AUTO position (and the low beam headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control system). Parking brake switch is off.

OPERATION CHECK [08/2013 - ]

1. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the light control switch to the AUTO position. Cover the automatic light control sensor. Check that the taillights and low beam headlights come on. Uncover the automatic light control sensor. Check that the low beam headlights and taillights go off.
2. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK When the taillights come on (low beam headlights do not come on): Close all of the doors. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the taillights on. Turn the ignition switch off. Open the driver door. Check that all of the lights go off immediately. When the low beam headlights come on: Close all of the doors. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the low beam headlights on. Turn the ignition switch off. Open any of the doors. Close the door. Check that all of the lights go off after 30 seconds (delay function). HINT: Before the lights go off, if the lock button on the key is pushed after all of the doors are locked, all of the lights will go off immediately.
3. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK Headlight dimmer switch without AUTO position: Start the engine. Turn the light control switch to the tail or DRL position. Release the parking brake. Check that the daytime running lights (low-intensity low beam headlights) come on. Headlight dimmer switch with AUTO position: Start the engine. Turn the light control switch to the tail or AUTO position (check that the low beam headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control system). Release the parking brake. Check that the daytime running lights (low-intensity low beam headlights) come on.

1. CUSTOMIZE LIGHTING SYSTEM (EXT) NOTE: When the customer requests a change in a function, first make sure that the function can be customized. Be sure to make a note of the current settings before customizing. When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. HINT: The following items can be customized. Customizing with the Techstream Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Utility / Customize / Light Control. Select the setting by referring to the table below.
