- Remove power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect power window motor and power window switch to vehicle wiring harness. Turn ignition on. Operate power window motor to raise window more than 6 rotations (4 seconds or more). Install power window motor to the regulator, with regulator arm below middle point.
- Assemble window regulator and door glass. Connect power window switch to vehicle wiring harness and turn ignition on. Repeat up and down operation of power window manually. Verify power window operates in auto-up and auto-down in automatic operation. Do not test jam protection function until completely finished with this procedure. After closing window fully with auto-up operation, open window. Check power window for normal function.
- If Toyota hand-held tester is not available, go to next step. If Toyota hand-held tester is available, check jam protection limit switch using DATA LIST mode. If jam protection limit switch is not okay, go to next step.
- Check jam protection limit switch. See «JAM PROTECTION LIMIT SWITCH»(ref-9143-S14968284842000100700000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If jam protection limit switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check wiring harness and connectors between jam protection limit switch and driver door ECU. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-9143-S25143314112000100600000) . Repair as necessary and reset power window motor reset and pulse switch. See «RESETTING POWER WINDOW MOTOR RESET & PULSE SWITCH»(ref-9143-S22355999612000101900000) under PROGRAMMING.
- Check jam protection pulse switch. See «JAM PROTECTION PULSE SWITCH»(ref-9143-S23963428122000100700000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If jam protection pulse switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check wiring harness and connectors between jam protection pulse switch and driver door ECU. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-9143-S25143314112000100600000) . Repair as necessary and reset power window motor reset and pulse switch. See «RESETTING POWER WINDOW MOTOR RESET & PULSE SWITCH»(ref-9143-S22355999612000101900000) under PROGRAMMING.
- Disconnect harness connector from driver's door ECU. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 1 (Green wire) at harness connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect positive lead between battery and terminal No. 14 (Red wire) at harness connector (harness side). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Depress power window switch to down position. (Scheme 18)
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's door ECU. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit as necessary. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-9143-S25143314112000100600000).
Camry
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to driver's power window master switch connector (harness side) terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and driver's power window switch harness connector terminal No. 6 (Red/Blue wire). (Scheme 15)
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. - Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from driver's door power window motor. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 2 (Green wire) at harness side and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. see scheme 5 Connect another jumper wire between positive battery lead and terminal No. 1 (Red wire) at driver's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage and check that current changes to less than one amp in 4-90 seconds. Wait approximately 60 seconds and connect positive battery lead to terminal No. 2 (Green wire) and negative lead to terminal No. 1 (Red wire). Window should lower. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 14-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire between positive terminal and 12-volt battery to terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire) at master switch connector (harness side). (Scheme 15) Connect another jumper wire between negative terminal of battery and terminal No. 6 (Red wire) at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-90 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to lower within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 10-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire between positive terminal of 12-volt battery and terminal No. 3 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side). (Scheme 16) Connect another jumper wire between negative terminal of battery and terminal No. 4 (Red wire) at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to lower within about 60 seconds. - Connect jumper wire between positive terminal and battery and terminal No. 8 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000). Continue to apply voltage. Ensure current draw changes from about 14 amps to less than one amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper between positive terminal of battery and terminal No. 6 (Red wire) at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 8 (Green wire) at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 14-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 5 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side). (Scheme 15) Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to descend within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. Check for an audible click from circuit within 4-40 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 (White/Black wire) at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 3 (Red wire) at master switch harness connector. Continue to apply voltage, check for an audible click from circuit within 4-40 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 (Red wire) at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend within 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. - Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from body ECU. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 5 (Red wire) at body ECU connector (harness side). (Scheme 18)
- Connect jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000). Continue to apply voltage. Check for an audible click from circuit within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 (Green wire) at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 (Red wire) at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend within 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. Avalon (Driver's Window)
Disconnect window motor harness connector. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and negative voltmeter lead to terminal No. 5 (White wire) at window motor harness connector. Apply positive battery voltage to terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and connect negative battery lead to terminal No. 2 (Green wire) at window motor harness connector. see scheme 5 Pulse should be generated with window motor running. Reverse polarity of battery leads. Pulse should be generated with window motor running in opposite direction. If generated pulse is not as specified, replace window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Camry (With Anti-Theft System)
- Locate integration relay on junction block (behind instrument panel, left of steering column). Measure voltage by backprobing between integration relay 25-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and ground. (Scheme 19) Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
- Observe voltmeter and close driver's door. Battery voltage should be present. Open driver's door. Voltage should be zero volts. Observe voltmeter and turn ignition switch to RUN position. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is not as specified, replace integration relay and retest.
Scheme 19
Camry (Without Anti-Theft System)
- Locate integration relay on junction block (behind instrument panel, left of steering column). Measure voltage by backprobing between ground and terminal No. 12 (Red/Black wire) at integration relay 13-pin harness connector. (Scheme 20) Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
- Observe voltmeter and close driver's door. Battery voltage should be present. Open driver's door. Voltage should be zero volts. Observe voltmeter and turn ignition switch to RUN position. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is not as specified, replace integration relay and retest.
Scheme 20
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from passenger's door power window motor. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 1 (Red wire) on harness side, and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. see scheme 5 Connect another jumper wire from positive battery lead to terminal No. 2 (Green wire) at passenger's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage and verify that current changes to less than one amp in 4-90 seconds. Wait approximately 60 seconds and connect positive battery lead to terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and negative lead to terminal No. 2 (Green wire). Window should descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Camry, Camry Solara & Corolla
- Slightly lower passenger window. Disconnect passenger's power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 3 (Yellow wire on Corolla; Green wire on Camry and Camry Solara) at power window switch connector (harness side). see scheme 7 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 (Green wire on Corolla; Red wire on Camry and Camry Solara) at power window switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to descend within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-9143-S40387615572000100600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect passenger power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 3 (Red wire) at passenger power window switch connector (harness side). see scheme 7 Connect negative lead from ammeter to negative terminal of 12-volt battery.
- Connect a jumper wire from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 (Green wire) at passenger's switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-9143-S28329955362000100600000). Continue to apply voltage. Ensure current draw changes from about 14 amps to less than one amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from terminal No. 3 (Red wire) at positive terminal of battery to passenger's switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 (Green wire) at passenger's switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from passenger's power window switch. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 3 (Red wire) at passenger's switch connector (harness side). see scheme 6

Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified terminals with power window switch in specified position. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST (CELICA CONVERTIBLE - REAR QUARTER WINDOWS) table. (Scheme 21) If continuity does not exist at specified terminals, replace appropriate power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Connect ammeter positive lead to harness side of terminal No. 2 (Green wire) and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. Connect another jumper wire from positive battery lead to terminal No. 1 (Red wire) at passenger's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position.
