Multiplex Control Systems: Removal & Installation Toyota Avalon XX20

Removal & Installation

Body control ECU is located behind driver's lower instrument panel knee bolster. (Схема №1) Removal and installation procedures are not available from manufacturer.

Remove inside handle bezel screw. With a taped flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry both bezel retainer tabs upward. Tabs are located on inner rear upper and lower portion of bezel. Gently pry at rear of power window/door lock switch and release spring retainer. Disconnect electrical connector and remove switch. On rear doors, remove rear guide bracket garnish. On front doors, pry off 2 screw caps. On all doors, remove door panel retainer screws and clips. Gently pull door panel upward to remove.

Door ECUs are mounted on rear side of driver's and front passenger's power window/door lock switches. Gently pry at rear of power window/door lock switch and release spring retainer. Disconnect electrical connector and remove switch.

Remove driver's seat to gain access to power seat control ECU. Disconnect harness connectors and remove power seat control ECU.

Theft-deterrent ECU is located behind glove box, just above right kick panel and uses a 26-pin electrical connector. Remove glove box to gain access to theft-deterrent ECU. Disconnect connector and remove theft-deterrent ECU. (Схема №1) Ensure negative battery cable is disconnected before servicing anti-theft system ECU.
