WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES

Scheme 1
- Inspect lower ball joint. Raise and support vehicle. Position front wheels straight-ahead. Remove front wheel. Install 2 or 3 lug nuts onto wheel studs to hold rotor and hub in place.
- Push hub up and down with a force of 66 lbs. noting vertical movement in lower ball joint using a dial indicator. (Scheme 1) Replace lower ball joint if vertical movement exceeds 0.020 in. (0.50 mm).
- Inspect upper ball joint. Push up and down on hub with a force of 66 lbs. noting vertical movement in upper ball joint. Replace upper ball joint if vertical movement exceeds.020 in. (0.5 mm).
- Move ball joint stud back and forth 5 times to check for looseness. Measure ball joint rotating torque with ball joint disconnected from steering knuckle. Install nut onto ball joint stud.
- Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench, rotate ball joint stud continuously one revolution every 2-4 seconds. Measuring rotating torque on the 5th revolution.
