DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article for 1999 models or COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article for 2000 models in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Body control system controls theft deterrent and power door lock systems. Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is used along with back door ECU for controlling back door power lock, power window and rear wiper/washer systems.
Description
This circuit applies battery voltage to body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 23 pin (B16) connector, terminal No. 10. Ground is connected to body ECU 15 pin (R1) connector, terminal No. 8.
Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) determines position of rear wiper switch by using terminal voltage of the switch. Body ECU then operates rear wiper motor in accordance with terminal voltage.
Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) determines position of wiper and washer switch by using terminal voltage of the switch. Body ECU then operates rear washer and wiper motors in accordance with terminal voltage.
When panic signal is received, taillight relay is activated by Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
When panic signal is received, headlight relay is activated by body Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
Key unlock warning switch is turned ON when ignition key is installed in ignition lock cylinder and is turned OFF when ignition key is removed. Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) operates the key confinement prevention function which keeps the doors from being locked when ignition key is in the ignition lock cylinder.
Back door power window is operated by body ECU.
Door unlock detection switch is incorporated into door lock motor assembly. Door unlock detection switch is in ON position when door lock knob is in unlock position, and OFF when door lock knob is in lock position. Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) determines door lock knob position by using input signal from door unlock detection switch. Body ECU uses input signal for key confinement prevention system, wireless door lock control system and theft deterrent system.
Door key lock and unlock switch are incorporated into the door lock cylinder. When key is turned to LOCK position, lock side of switch (terminal No. 1) is grounded. When key is turned to UNLOCK position, unlock side of switch (terminal No. 3) is grounded.
Door courtesy switch is ON when door is opened and OFF when door is closed.
Hood courtesy switch is built into engine hood lock assembly. It goes ON when engine hood is opened and goes OFF when engine hood is closed.
When theft deterrent system is preparing to set, this circuits illuminates SECURITY indicator light. When system has been set, it continuously blinks the indicator light on and off in one second increments.
Horn is connected to body ECU and is activated by body ECU during warning of theft deterrent system or activation of horn switch.
Body ECU activates theft deterrent horn.
MPX circuit communicates information for wireless door lock control system, rear defogger system, open door warning, theft deterrent system, rear wiper/washer system, luggage light and back door power window system.
This circuit applies battery voltage to back door ECU terminal Nos. 1, 2 and 3. Ground is connected to terminal No. 26.
Tailgate control switch operates the back door window with a key from outside the vehicle.
Door courtesy switch is ON when door is opened and OFF when door is closed.
The limit switch signals the back door ECM when the rear window is fully closed.
Rear wiper motor is controlled by the back door ECU.
Back door ECU activates keyless door lock buzzer when keyless door lock feature is used.
