REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. |
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove box and ECM. Disconnect electrical connectors from blower motor and resistor. (Scheme 1) Remove fresh air control cable from blower case. Remove glove box upper panel and bolts. Remove blower motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Scheme 1
- Remove console box. Remove ashtray, ashtray upper plate, and cigarette lighter. Remove cluster panel lower cover. Remove control lever knobs. Remove heater control lever garnish. Remove heater control lever panel.
- Remove glove box. Remove heater control lever screws. Disconnect electrical connector from control panel blower motor switch. Remove switch.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure all control levers operate smoothly. If lever does not operate smoothly, adjust cable clamp position.
Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect heater inlet and outlet hoses at heater pipes. Remove instrument panel and speedometer assembly. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-361-S03519476592000030800000) .
- Loosen front door stopper screws. Remove steering column holder. Disconnect heater blower motor and resistor connectors. Loosen heater case nut on engine compartment side. Remove heater assembly. Remove heater blower motor.
Installation
To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure control cables operate smoothly. Fill cooling system and check for leaks.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove console. Disconnect and remove radio (if equipped).
- Disconnect and remove cigarette lighter (if equipped). Pull out ashtray and loosen ashtray plate screws. Disconnect wires and cables from heater. Remove steering column. Disconnect speedometer.
- Remove hood release lever and front pillar trim. Disconnect wires from instrument panel. Remove 6 bolts from instrument panel brace. Remove instrument panel and instrument panel brace together. To install, reverse removal procedure.
