BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on as a bulb check the ignition switch in turned on, it should go out when the engine is started. When lit with the engine running, it indicates that the park brake is on or the brake fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir is low. If the light illuminates when the brake pedal is depressed, it may indicate a failure in one of the two braking circuits. Stop the vehicle immediately and check the fluid level in the reservoir. Check for leaks and check pedal pressure. Service immediately.
OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on as a bulb check the ignition switch in turned on, it should go out when the engine is started. Indicates insufficient oil pressure. Always shut engine off and check engine oil level if light comes on. If oil level is low, add oil before starting engine. If oil level is okay have vehicle serviced immediately. Operating vehicle when oil light is lit may result in extensive engine damage.
CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT
Light should illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. It should go out when the vehicle is started. If light comes on or remains on when engine is running, alternator charging circuit is faulty.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
Light is computer controlled and will illuminate when the emission control system needs servicing. This light comes on as a bulb check the ignition switch in turned on, it should go out when the engine is started.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) INDICATOR CANADIAN VEHICLES ONLY
When the DRL system is operative, the headlights will be on at a lower level than the low beams. The following conditions must be met for the DRL system to operate: engine running, parking brake released, and light switch in the OFF or MIDDLE position.
SHIFT-UP INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Shift-up indicator light (up-pointing arrowhead), will come on when an up-shift will permit better fuel economy.
SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
On vehicles equipped with manual belts, a single belt symbol will illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position for a period of about 6 seconds. This is a reminder to fasten the seat belts. A warning buzzer will also sound. On vehicles equipped with automatic seat belts, 2 warning lights are provided, one for each front seat. These lights will come on as a bulb check when the ignition is turned to the START position. During vehicle operation the appropriate bulb will light if, one of the emergency release buckles is unfastened, or the belt is not in the protective mode.
