CAUTION

1. Before disassembling or reassembling parts, always disconnect the battery ground cable from battery. When replacing the audio, control module and other parts provided with memory functions, record the memory contents before disconnecting the battery ground cable. Otherwise, the memory is cleared.
2. Avoid impact and damage to the glass.
3. Reassemble the parts in the reverse order of disassembly procedure unless otherwise indicated.
4. Connect the connectors securely during reassembly.
5. After reassembly, make sure that the functional parts operate normally.

GENERAL TOOL

CHECK FUSE

1. Remove the fuse and check visually.
2. If the fuse is blown out, replace the fuse.

1. Remove the front door trim. < Refer to «FRONT DOOR»(ref-565181-S40503199712013071000000) , REMOVAL, Door Trim. >
2. Remove the power window switch panel. CAUTION: Do not damage the door trim with the switch panel. Insert a sheet of protective paper (a) between switch panel and door trim. Remove the screws and disconnect the connector. Disconnect the claws and then remove the power window switch panel. Remove the screws and remove the power window main switch.

1. Remove the rear door trim. < Refer to «REAR DOOR»(ref-565181-S08128470052013071000000) , REMOVAL, Door Trim. >
2. Remove the power window switch panel. CAUTION: Do not damage the door trim with the switch panel. Insert a sheet of protective paper (a) between switch panel and door trim. Remove the screws and disconnect the connector. Disconnect the claws and then remove the power window switch panel.
3. Disconnect the claws and then remove the power window sub-switch.

MAIN SWITCH

1. Driver's seat

Check output from the power window main switch to driver's side motor using the oscilloscope function in the Subaru Select Monitor.

1. Remove the power window main switch.
2. Connect the battery and the Subaru Select Monitor to the power window main switch terminal. CAUTION: Never mix up the terminals when connecting the power window main switch connector and battery. If connected to a wrong terminal, the power window main switch may be damaged. NOTE: When the battery is connected to the power window main switch terminal, the letters "AUTO" on the driver's side knob illuminates. For detailed procedures, refer to "Subaru Select Monitor Operation Manual".
3. Operate the main switch and check the output. NOTE: Since output time during window UP operation is extremely short, it cannot be checked without using a measuring instrument such as oscilloscope. Output is constantly produced while the switch is operated for window DOWN operation. 2. Remove the sealing cover. CAUTION: Carefully remove the butyl tape. Excessive force will easily break the cover. If cover gets broken, replace it with a new part.
3. Remove the inner pad.
4. Attach the battery ground cable and power window switch and turn the ignition to ON.
5. Remove the front door glass. Operate the power window switch to move the front door glass to the position where the mounting bolts can be seen. Remove the bolt. While tilting the glass, remove the windshield glass. CAUTION: Avoid impact and damage to the glass.

1. Operate the remote control mirror switch to face the mirror surface upward.
2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
3. Remove the outer mirror. Disconnect the clips using a flat tip screwdriver. Disconnect the mirror heater connector. (Model with mirror heater)
4. Disconnect the claws and then remove the scalp cap. CAUTION: Be careful not to apply excessive force when removing the scalp cap, as the lower hooks may become damaged.
5. Engage the claws into the hole and install the scalp cap.
6. Check that all the claws are securely engaged.

1. Operate the remote control mirror switch to face the mirror surface upward.
2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
3. Remove the outer mirror. Using a flat tip screwdriver, release the clips then remove the outer mirror by sliding downward. Disconnect the mirror heater connector. (Model with mirror heater)
4. Disconnect the claws and then remove the outer mirror lower cover.
5. Disconnect the claws and then remove the scalp cap. CAUTION: Be careful not to apply excessive force when removing the scalp cap, as the lower hooks may become damaged.
6. Engage the claws into the hole and install the scalp cap.
7. Engage the claws into the hole and install the outer mirror lower cover.
8. Check that all the claws are securely engaged.
9. Install the outer mirror in the reverse order of removal.

USING PIANO WIRE

1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery. (Models with wiper deicer)
2. Remove the front pillar trim. < Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-565181-S14586298522013071000000) , Upper Inner Trim. >
3. Disconnect the wiper deicer connector. (Models with wiper deicer)
4. Remove the cowl panel. < Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-565181-S36746959362013071000000) , Cowl Panel. >
5. Remove the stereo camera cover and stereo camera. (Models with EyeSight) < Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-565211-S16660257832013071000000) , Stereo Camera. >
6. Remove the molding from the glass and tape the body side of the circumference of windshield glass for protection.
7. Remove the windshield glass. Using a drill, make a hole in the adhesive part. Pass the piano wire through the hole, and pull the wire ends alternately to cut off the adhesive part and locating pin. CAUTION: Attach a piece of wood to both piano wire ends.

CHECK SYSTEM

Note. Rear window defogger system can be customized using the Subaru Select Monitor, when the customize setting {A/C ECM setting} of the body integrated unit is set to With.

CHECK WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITOR

1. Check the input signal when the rear window defogger switch is operated using Subaru Select Monitor. Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor. < Refer to «PREPARATION TOOL»(ref-565150-S38080042812013071000000) , General Description. > Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the "PC application for Subaru Select Monitor". On «System Selection Menu» display, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Rr defogger output} on {Current Data Display & Save}. Check the displayed data (ON/OFF) by operating the rear window defogger switch.
2. Check the operation with rear window defogger switch ON. When customize setting is set as "Continuous", it is normal if the 15-minute operation and 2-minute stop repeats. When customize setting is "Normal", it is normal if the operation lasts for 15 minutes and then turns OFF.
3. When the operation in 2) above fails, replace the body integrated unit.

NORMAL MIRROR TYPE

1. Remove the TORX® bolt, and then slide the rear view mirror to remove. Preparation tool: TORX® T20
2. If the mirror mounting is damaged, replace the windshield glass.

HOME LINK TYPE

1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
2. Remove the rearview mirror. Slide the upper section of the cover, and release the claws in the lower section, then remove the harness cover (a). Disconnect the rearview mirror connector (b). CAUTION: Be careful not to pull the harness. Remove the TORX® bolt, and then slide the rear view mirror to remove. Preparation tool: TORX® T20
3. If the mirror mounting is damaged, replace the windshield glass.

Note. The wiper deicer does not operate when the ambient temperature becomes 5°C (41°F) or more. The wiper deicer operates with the rear window defogger at the same time. It is possible to perform a forced operation if you keep holding the rear window defogger switch for 3 seconds or more.

Note. Wiper deicer system can be customized using the Subaru Select Monitor, when the customize setting {A/C ECM setting} of the body integrated unit is set to With. Set the system using the Rr Defogger op. mode, and setting will be the same as rear defogger system setting.
