REMOVAL
| CAUTION | The airbag system is fitted with a backup power supply. After disconnecting the battery ground cable, the airbag may operate if you do not wait for 60 seconds before starting the service of airbag system. |
Scheme 22
- Remove the headrest. NOTE: For models with headrest monitor, remove the headrest in the following procedures. Fold the backrest all the way backward, and then remove the headrest. Place the headrest on the seating face. Return the backrest to the original position.
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE: For the power seat, remove the slide rail installing bolt before removing the battery ground.
- Remove the slide rail installing bolt. Tilt the backrest forward and move the seat to the front most position. Remove the rear bolt cover (A) and remove the two bolts. Move the seat to the rearmost position. Remove the front bolt cover (B) and remove the two bolts. (Scheme 22): Removing Slide Rail Installing Bolt
- Disconnect the connector under the seat. CAUTION: Disconnect the ground cable from battery, and wait 60 seconds before disconnecting the connector. Seat belt warning light connector (driver's seat) Occupant detection system harness connector (passenger's seat) Side airbag connector Seat heater connector (model with seat heater) Power seat connector (model with power seats) Headrest monitor connector (model with headrest monitor)
- Take out the front seat from the vehicle. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the body.
INSTALLATION
Install each part in the reverse order of removal.
| CAUTION | The seat mounting bolts differ between the front mounting points and the rear mounting points. Make sure that you are using correct bolts at correct positions. Tighten the slide rail installing bolts in the order as shown in the figure, in several steps by gradually increasing the torque until they reach the specified torque. |

- Front (bolt A): Washer diameter 22 mm (0.87 in)
- Rear (bolt B): Washer diameter 26 mm (1.02 in)
Tightening torque
Front seat assembly: 53 N.m (5.40 kgf-m, 39.1 ft-lb)
Install each part in the reverse order of removal.
| CAUTION | If the hook is removed from vehicle body, replace the hook with the new part to avoid the deterioration of seat securing. |
Note. After installing the backrest, make sure that each seat belt operates normally. Check that the remote lever and reclining lever operate normally. Make sure that they are properly secured on each hook on the vehicle side.
Tightening torque

- Remove the headrest.
- Remove the backrest back board. Remove the plastic fastener at the lower part of backrest assembly, and open the fastener at both side to turn over the backrest cover. Remove the backrest striker cover. (Sedan model) Remove the screws (A) and clips (B). Remove the hog rings (C) and remove the backrest backboard. (Scheme 24): Locating Hog Rings, Screws And Clips
- Remove the headrest bushing. (Scheme 25): Locating Headrest Bushing Tips NOTE: Catch the tip of headrest bushing with pliers and push it from inside seat to outside to remove it.
- Remove the armrest assembly. Remove the armrest hinge cover by pulling it in the direction of arrow (black). Remove the screws, and remove the armrest. (Scheme 26): Removing Armrest Assembly NOTE: The armrests cannot be detached while the backrest assembly RH and armrest side pin positions are not aligned.
- Remove the plastic hooks and hog rings, and remove the pad at lower side of armrest. (Scheme 27): Locating Armrest Lower Side Pad
- Remove the hog rings (A) and remove the backrest pad & frame assembly from the backrest assembly. (Scheme 28): Identifying Hog Rings
- Remove the hog rings (A) on the front side of backrest, and then remove the backrest cover. (Scheme 29): Identifying Backrest Hog Rings
- Referring to the step 2 ), disassemble the backrest assembly LH.
- Remove the armrest cover. Take out the bottom sheets (a) from the cup holder and remove the screws (b). Remove the cup holder assembly (c). Detach the plastic fastener (d) and remove the armrest cover. (Scheme 30): Removing Cup Holder Assembly

- Remove the hog rings (A) on the rear side of the seat cushion. (Scheme 32): Identifying Seat Cushion Hog Rings

- Remove the seat side cover OUT. Release the claw in the rear section of the seat side cover. Release the claw in the upper section of the seat side cover. - Remove the seat side cover OUT. Release the claw in the rear section of the seat side cover. Release the claw in the upper section of the seat side cover. - Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the gusset cover. Attach the protective tape (a) to the door trim. Release the clips and claws, then detach the gusset cover. (Scheme 36): Removing Gusset Cover
- Remove the door trim assembly. Open the cover and remove the screw. Remove the clips in the order of (A) to (J) and remove the door trim assembly from the door panel. CAUTION: When removing the door trim, be sure to remove the clips in the correct order. Forcibly removing clips may damage the door panel assembly. (Scheme 37): Removing Door Trim Assembly NOTE: Insert a plastic clip remover into the slit at the bottom of the door trim, to lift the door trim. Remove the cables (a) and (b) from the cable holder of inner remote. (Scheme 38): Identifying Inner Remote Cable Holder Cables Disconnect the harness connector and remove the door trim assembly.
- Release the claws, and remove the seat memory switch assembly.

- Raise the seat cushion by operating the switch.
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle.
- Remove the power seat control module. Release the hooks on seat front and turn over the cushion cover. Remove the nuts, and remove the power seat control module. (Scheme 39): Locating Power Seat Control Module Nuts
Install each part in the reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque
Power seat control module: 5.9 N.m (0.60 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)
Note. The seat with memory function must be initialized after installed. < Ref. to ADJUSTMENT , Power Seat System. > After replacing a seat with memory function and the power seat control module, check the following items.
- Memory is reloaded when the ignition is ON and the select lever is shifted to "P" range.
- Memory is not reloaded even if the seat memory switch is pressed, when the ignition is ON and the select lever is set to other than "P" range.
- Memory is reloaded when the ignition is OFF and the driver's door inner switch is pressed within 45 seconds after the door is opened.
- Memory is reloaded automatically when the ignition is OFF and the driver's door is opened after unlocked by access key. (model with smart key interlock function)
Install each part in the reverse order of removal.
