Inspection

  1. Move brake and clutch pedal pads in the lateral direction with a force of 2 lbs. (10 N) to ensure pedal deflection is in specified range. See «ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163893-S39985871722004071500000). NOTE: If excessive deflection is noted, replace bushings with NEW ones.
  2. Check position of pedal pad. (Scheme 3) See «ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163893-S39985871722004071500000).
  3. If it is not in specified value, adjust it by adjusting brake booster operating rod length.

  1. Install disc rotor by tightening 5 wheel nuts.
  2. Set a dial gauge on the disc rotor. Turn the disc rotor to check runout. (Scheme 4) NOTE: Make sure dial gauge is set 0.2" (5 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter. Runout of disc rotor must not exceed 0.003" (0.075 mm).
  3. Measure disc rotor thickness with micrometer set 0.39" (10 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter. see scheme 9 See «DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163893-S07595305762004071500000).

  1. Set dial gauge on disc rotor. (Scheme 5) Turn disc rotor to check runout. See «DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163893-S07595305762004071500000). NOTE: Securely adjust the disc rotor to hub. Make sure dial gauge is set to 0.39" (10 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter.
  2. If runout of disc exceeds the limit, check for abnormal free play at the hub bearing and runout in the thrust direction. See INSPECTION under REAR AXLE in appropriate REAR AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  3. Measure disc rotor thickness. see scheme 15 See «DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163893-S07595305762004071500000). NOTE: Make sure dial gauge is set to 0.2" (5 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter.
