INSPECTION

Before performing diagnosis, check the following items which might affect engine problems.

Scheme 25: BATTERY
  1. Measure battery voltage and specific gravity of electrolyte. Standard voltage: 12 V Specific gravity: Above 1.260
  2. Check the condition of the fuses for A/C, heater and other fuses.
  3. Check the condition of the harnesses and harness connectors connection. (Scheme 25): Checking Harnesses & Harness Connectors

  1. Make sure that the aspirator hose is securely connected to the heater unit by inserting a hand from the driver's compartment and secure as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON.
  3. Push "DEF" switch and then blower fan switch to turn the blower fan to maximum speed. (Scheme 26): Identifying "DEF" Switch & Blower Fan Switch
  4. Firmly hold a thin thread (b) in front of the in vehicle sensor suction port (a) for the auto A/C control unit and check that the thread moves towards the port indicating that air is being sucked into the port. NOTE: Ensure the thread does not get sucked into the port. Hold the thread approximately 5 mm (0.02 in) away from the port when the suction force is not very strong.   5. If the thread does not move at all, remove the auto A/C control unit. See «A/C UNIT»(ref-12288-S39648424722000121900000). Check for improper connection of the aspirator hose (a) and auto A/C control unit and secure as necessary. (Scheme 28): Checking For Improper Connection Of Aspirator Hose & Auto A/C Control Unit

TROUBLE SYMPTOM

  1. "Set" temperature is not indicated on display, switch LEDs are faulty and switches do not operate.
  2. Self-diagnosis system does not operate.

  1. Blower motor is not rotating.

Fan speed, outlets and inlets are not switched when AUTO or ECON switch is ON.

When turning AUTO switch to ON, blower fan speed, outlet port and inlet port is not changed.

If trouble code 22 or -22 appears on the display, replace the A/C control module. The in-vehicle sensor is built into the A/C control module and cannot be replaced as a single unit.

  1. Sensor identified that sunlight is at maximum. Then, A/C system is controlled to COOL side.
  2. Sensor identified that sunlight is at minimum. Then, A/C system is controlled to HOT side. NOTE: When the sunload sensor is checked inside the passenger compartment or in the shade, code "25" may appear on the indicator. Always check the sunload sensor in a place where it senses direct sunlight.
